Ferley Castro Aranda1, Rodolfo Garcia2, Andres Felipe Ceron Piamba1, Benjamin Mailhé3
Revista Internacional de Métodos Numéricos para Cálculo y Diseño en Ingeniería, Vol.38, No.2, pp. 1-10, 2022, DOI:10.23967/j.rimni.2022.04.002
Abstract This paper analyzes data provided by ENEL-CODENSA with information about substation assets, including sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) containing equipment and its top-up operations over the last ten years. The information has been used to estimate the total SF6 mass in the current fleet and to determine historical emissions. The environmental and economic impacts are evaluated using the obtained results on simple models. Recommendations are made in order to mitigate the estimated impacts. More >

Abstract The majority of the flowshop scheduling literature focuses on regular performance measures like makespan, flowtime etc. In this paper a flowshop scheduling problem is addressed where the objective is to minimize completion time variance (CTV). CTV is a non-regular performance measure that is closely related to just-in-time philosophy. A Microsoft Excel spreadsheet-based genetic algorithm (GA) is proposed to solve the problem. The proposed GA methodology is domain-independent and general purpose. The flowshop model is developed in the spreadsheet environment using the built-in formulae and function. Addition of jobs and machines can be catered for without More >

Study of dynamic simulators with ADAMS and Matlab/Simulink for control systems

    César Chávez-Olivares1, Eduardo Rubio1, Cesar Guzmán1
    Revista Internacional de Métodos Numéricos para Cálculo y Diseño en Ingeniería, Vol.38, No.2, pp. 1-18, 2022, DOI:10.23967/j.rimni.2022.04.001 - 07 April 2022
Abstract ADAMS-MATLAB co-simulation is widely used in complex system development to control models of closed-loop mechanisms. An advantage of ADAMS is to facilitate the configuration of parameters such as friction. However, its mathematical friction model is unknown. There are alternatives such as Simscape Multibody that facilitate the configuration of any friction model. This paper presents a case study of dynamic simulation using the mathematical model of a mechanism in order to compare it with ADAMS and Simscape Multibody. The state-space model uses the parameters b and fc – viscous and Coulomb friction coefficients. However, ADAMS uses only More >

    Revista Internacional de Métodos Numéricos para Cálculo y Diseño en Ingeniería, Vol.38, No.2, pp. 1-11, 2022, DOI:10.23967/j.rimni.2022.03.014 - 05 April 2022
Abstract Saving energy and low carbon strategy has becoming the future trend of manufacturing industry. Cutting process in mechanical manufacturing has the characteristics of heavy energy consumption and complex process. The estimation and evaluation of energy consumption and energy efficiency of cutting process are hot topics in research groups and industry. The energy consumption of cutting process is determined by the load, which is related to the cutting parameters under fixed cutting systems, while the cutting parameter might change with the cutting process and material. Based on the relationship between energy consumption and cutting characteristics and More >

Abstract When cranial bone needs to be removed or lost, subsequent reconstruction of the defect is necessary to protect the underlying brain, correct aesthetic deformities, or both. Cranioplasty surgical procedures are performed to correct the skull defects requiring reconstruction of form and function. Personalized cranial implants can repair severe injuries to the skull can be done through This study presents the optimization of cranial titanium implants. A total of sixty different models were subjected to a simulation by Finite Element Analysis (FEA) applying the mechanical properties of a grade 5 titanium alloy (Ti6Al4V) implant material. Abstract Nowadays, the world has focused on digital media. There have been voices for and against virtual education. Gamification has been described as a strategy to transmit knowledge through the design and use of games. This article describes the first phase of the development of a game aimed at the transmission of knowledge related to engineers dedicated to the commercialization, diagnosis, and repair of induction motors; these are electrical machines widely used in industry. In this way, this paper shows the Electric Motor Store Simulator (hereinafter STME for its acronym in Spanish) is a free software More >

Integration of game theory and response surface method for robust parameter design

Mengyuan Tang, Li Dai1, Sangmun Shin2
    Revista Internacional de Métodos Numéricos para Cálculo y Diseño en Ingeniería, Vol.38, No.2, pp. 1-17, 2022, DOI:10.23967/j.rimni.2022.06.002 - 20 June 2022
Abstract Robust parameter design (RPD) is to determine the optimal controllable factors that minimize the variation of quality performance caused by noise factors. The dual response surface approach is one of the most commonly applied approaches in RPD that attempts to simultaneously minimize the process bias (i.e., the deviation of the process mean from the target) as well as process variability (i.e., variance or standard deviation). In order to address this tradeoff issue between the process bias and variability, a number of RPD methods are reported in literature by assigning relative weights or priorities to both… More >

    Revista Internacional de Métodos Numéricos para Cálculo y Diseño en Ingeniería, Vol.38, No.2, pp. 1-14, 2022, DOI:10.23967/j.rimni.2022.06.003 - 14 June 2022
Abstract One of the greatest challenges in the area of applied mathematics continues to be the design of numerical methods capable of approximating the solution of partial differential equations quickly and accurately. One of the most important equations, due to the hydraulic and transport applications it has, and the large number of difficulties that it usually presents when solving it numerically is the Diffusion Equation.
In the present work, a Method of Lines applied to the numerical solution of the said equation in irregular regions is presented using a scheme of Generalized Finite Differences. The second-order More >

Numerical simulation of erosion wear and leakage flow field of gas-solid two-phase flow in a T-shaped pipeline

    Hongwei Yan1, Yi Liu1, Jian Li1, Ziming Kou2, Pengcheng Li1
    Revista Internacional de Métodos Numéricos para Cálculo y Diseño en Ingeniería, Vol.38, No.2, pp. 1-16, 2022, DOI:10.23967/j.rimni.2022.05.001 - 20 May 2022
Abstract In the process of natural gas transportation in pipeline, because the natural gas contains mud and sand, the pipeline will undergo erosion wear under the impact of gas-solid two-phase flow. Erosion wear seriously reduces the performance of the inner wall of the pipeline, which is not conducive to the stability of the conveying process and the safe operation of the equipment. Among them, the erosion wear of special pipe fittings such as tee pipe and bend pipe are especially serious. In this paper, the erosion of natural gas T-shaped tee pipeline is simulated by FLUENT… More >

Adaptive analysis of multistage down-hole throttling and optimization design of process parameters in Sulige gas field

    Wu Yijun1, Yongchun Wu1, Xingsheng Zheng1, Yongkai Li1, Xiaohua Lu1, Chenggang Liu1, Xin Li1
    Revista Internacional de Métodos Numéricos para Cálculo y Diseño en Ingeniería, Vol.38, No.2, pp. 1-6, 2022, DOI:10.23967/j.rimni.2022.06.001 - 09 June 2022
Abstract The Sulige Gas Field mainly adopts down-hole throttling production technology. For gas Wells with high bottom-hole pressure and productivity and low pressure drop in the testing process, it is difficult to reduce the wellhead pressure to the ideal value by installing a single-stage down-hole throttle, which cannot meet the needs of existing middle and low-pressure gas gathering technology in Sulige Gas field. Therefore, it is proposed to adopt down-hole multi-stage throttling technology, which not only makes full use of the residual pressure and heat of the well bore, but also ensures the safety of the… More >
