    Fang Li1,*, Juan Wu1, Haiyong Yi2, Lihong Wu2, Lingyun Du1, Yuan Zeng1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.043256

Abstract Methods for horizontal well spacing calculation in tight gas reservoirs are still adversely affected by the complexity of related control factors, such as strong reservoir heterogeneity and seepage mechanisms. In this study, the stress sensitivity and threshold pressure gradient of various types of reservoirs are quantitatively evaluated through reservoir seepage experiments. On the basis of these experiments, a numerical simulation model (based on the special seepage mechanism) and an inverse dynamic reserve algorithm (with different equivalent drainage areas) were developed. The well spacing ranges of Classes I, II, and III wells in the Q gas field are determined to be… More >

    Zhiwei Lin1, Hui Wang1,*, Tianding Chen1, Yingtao Jiang2, Jianmei Jiang3, Yingpin Chen1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.045990

Abstract In the domain of autonomous industrial manipulators, precise positioning and appropriate posture selection in path planning are pivotal for tasks involving obstacle avoidance, such as handling, heat sealing, and stacking. While Multi-Degree-of-Freedom (MDOF) manipulators offer kinematic redundancy, aiding in the derivation of optimal inverse kinematic solutions to meet position and posture requisites, their path planning entails intricate multiobjective optimization, encompassing path, posture, and joint motion optimization. Achieving satisfactory results in practical scenarios remains challenging. In response, this study introduces a novel Reverse Path Planning (RPP) methodology tailored for industrial manipulators. The approach commences by conceptualizing the manipulator’s end-effector as an… More > Graphic Abstract

    Deyong Shang1,2, Xi Zhang1, Fengqi Liang1, Chunde Zhai1, Hang Yang1, Yanqi Niu1,2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.045750

Abstract When the amphibious vehicle navigates in water, the angle of the anti-wave plate and the position of the center of gravity greatly influence the navigation characteristics. In the relevant research on reducing the navigation resistance of amphibious vehicles by adjusting the angle of the anti-wave plate, there is a lack of scientific selection of parameters and reasonable research of simulation results by using mathematical methods, and the influence of the center of gravity position on navigation characteristics is not considered at the same time. To study the influence of the combinations of the angle of the anti-wave plate and the… More >

A Novel Method for Linear Systems of Fractional Ordinary Differential Equations with Applications to Time-Fractional PDEs

    Sergiy Reutskiy1, Yuhui Zhang2,*, Jun Lu3,*, Ciren Pubu4

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.044878

Abstract This paper presents an efficient numerical technique for solving multi-term linear systems of fractional ordinary differential equations (FODEs) which have been widely used in modeling various phenomena in engineering and science. An approximate solution of the system is sought in the form of the finite series over the Müntz polynomials. By using the collocation procedure in the time interval, one gets the linear algebraic system for the coefficient of the expansion which can be easily solved numerically by a standard procedure. This technique also serves as the basis for solving the time-fractional partial differential equations (PDEs). The modified radial basis… More >

The heterogeneity of tumor-associated macrophages and strategies to target it

    HAO LV1, BO ZHU1,2, DEGAO CHEN1,2,*

    BIOCELL, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/biocell.2023.046367

Abstract Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) are emerging as targets for tumor therapy because of their primary role in promoting tumor progression. Several studies have been conducted to target TAMs by reducing their infiltration, depleting their numbers, and reversing their phenotypes to suppress tumor progression, leading to the development of drugs in preclinical and clinical trials. However, the heterogeneous characteristics of TAMs, including their ontogenetic and functional heterogeneity, limit their targeting. Therefore, in-depth exploration of the heterogeneity of TAMs, combined with immune checkpoint therapy or other therapeutic modalities could improve the efficiency of tumor treatment. This review focuses on the heterogeneous ontogeny and… More >

In vitro engineered models of neurodegenerative diseases

    ZEHRA GÜL MORÇIMEN1, ŞEYMA TAŞDEMIR2, AYLIN ŞENDEMIR3,4,*

    BIOCELL, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/biocell.2023.045361

Abstract Neurodegeneration is a catastrophic process that develops progressive damage leading to functional and structural loss of the cells of the nervous system and is among the biggest unavoidable problems of our age. Animal models do not reflect the pathophysiology observed in humans due to distinct differences between the neural pathways, gene expression patterns, neuronal plasticity, and other disease-related mechanisms in animals and humans. Classical in vitro cell culture models are also not sufficient for pre-clinical drug testing in reflecting the complex pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases. Today, modern, engineered techniques are applied to develop multicellular, intricate in vitro models and to… More >
