    Peyman Ahmadi1,*, Davood Efhamisisi1,*, Marie-France Thévenon2,3, Hamid Zarea Hosseinabadi1, Reza Oladi1, Jean Gerard2,3

Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/jrm.2024.054076

Abstract Sugarcane bagasse is an agro-waste that could replace timber resources for the production of bio-composites. Composite boards such as particleboard offer an issue for the use and recycling of poor quality timber, and these engineered products can overcome some solid wood limitations such as heterogeneity and dimension. Bagasse offers an alternative to wood chips for particleboard production but present some disadvantages as well, such as poor physico-mechanical properties. To address these issues, bagasse fibers were treated with an innovative natural resin formulated with tannin and furfural. Impregnated particles with different concentrations of resin (5%, 10%,… More > Graphic Abstract

Intelligent PID Control Method for Quadrotor UAV with Serial Humanoid Intelligence

Linlin Zhang, Lvzhao Bai, Jianshu Liang, Zhiying Qin*, Yuejing Zhao

Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/csse.2024.054237

Abstract Quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are widely used in inspection, agriculture, express delivery, and other fields owing to their low cost and high flexibility. However, the current UAV control system has shortcomings such as poor control accuracy and weak anti-interference ability to a certain extent. To address the control problem of a four-rotor UAV, we propose a method to enhance the controller’s accuracy by considering underactuated dynamics, nonlinearities, and external disturbances. A mathematical model is constructed based on the flight principles of the quadrotor UAV. We develop a control algorithm that combines humanoid intelligence with… More >

Self-Attention Spatio-Temporal Deep Collaborative Network for Robust FDIA Detection in Smart Grids

    Tong Zu, Fengyong Li*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.055442

Abstract False data injection attack (FDIA) can affect the state estimation of the power grid by tampering with the measured value of the power grid data, and then destroying the stable operation of the smart grid. Existing work usually trains a detection model by fusing the data-driven features from diverse power data streams. Data-driven features, however, cannot effectively capture the differences between noisy data and attack samples. As a result, slight noise disturbances in the power grid may cause a large number of false detections for FDIA attacks. To address this problem, this paper designs a… More >

Khawaja Tahir Mehmood1,2,*, Shahid Atiq1, Intisar Ali Sajjad3, Muhammad Majid Hussain4, Malik M. Abdul Basit2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.053903

Abstract Software-Defined Networking (SDN), with segregated data and control planes, provides faster data routing, stability, and enhanced quality metrics, such as throughput (Th), maximum available bandwidth (Bd(max)), data transfer (DTransfer), and reduction in end-to-end delay (D(E-E)). This paper explores the critical work of deploying SDN in largescale Data Center Networks (DCNs) to enhance its Quality of Service (QoS) parameters, using logically distributed control configurations. There is a noticeable increase in Delay(E-E) when adopting SDN with a unified (single) control structure in big DCNs to handle Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) requests causing a reduction in network quality parameters (Bd(max), Th, DTransfer, D(E-E),… More > Graphic Abstract

A Facial Expression Recognition Method Integrating Uncertainty Estimation and Active Learning

    Yujian Wang1, Jianxun Zhang1,*, Renhao Sun2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.054644

Abstract The effectiveness of facial expression recognition (FER) algorithms hinges on the model’s quality and the availability of a substantial amount of labeled expression data. However, labeling large datasets demands significant human, time, and financial resources. Although active learning methods have mitigated the dependency on extensive labeled data, a cold-start problem persists in small to medium-sized expression recognition datasets. This issue arises because the initial labeled data often fails to represent the full spectrum of facial expression characteristics. This paper introduces an active learning approach that integrates uncertainty estimation, aiming to improve the precision of facial… More >
