Obstacle Avoidance Capability for Multi-Target Path Planning in Different Styles of Search

Mustafa Mohammed Alhassow1,*, Oguz Ata2, Dogu Cagdas Atilla1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.81, No.1, pp. 749-771, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.055592 - 15 October 2024

Abstract This study investigates robot path planning for multiple agents, focusing on the critical requirement that agents can pursue concurrent pathways without collisions. Each agent is assigned a task within the environment to reach a designated destination. When the map or goal changes unexpectedly, particularly in dynamic and unknown environments, it can lead to potential failures or performance degradation in various ways. Additionally, priority inheritance plays a significant role in path planning and can impact performance. This study proposes a Conflict-Based Search (CBS) approach, introducing a unique hierarchical search mechanism for planning paths for multiple robots.… More >

Abstract Visible light communication (VLC) has a paramount role in industrial implementations, especially for better energy efficiency, high speed-data rates, and low susceptibility to interference. However, since studies on VLC for industrial implementations are in scarcity, areas concerning illumination optimisation and communication performances demand further investigation. As such, this paper presents a new modelling of light fixture distribution for a warehouse model to provide acceptable illumination and communication performances. The proposed model was evaluated based on various semi-angles at half power (SAAHP) and different height levels for several parameters, including received power, signal to noise ratio More >

A Novel Hybrid Optimization Algorithm for Materialized View Selection from Data Warehouse Environments

    Popuri Srinivasarao, Aravapalli Rama Satish*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.47, No.2, pp. 1527-1547, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.038951 - 28 July 2023

Abstract Responding to complex analytical queries in the data warehouse (DW) is one of the most challenging tasks that require prompt attention. The problem of materialized view (MV) selection relies on selecting the most optimal views that can respond to more queries simultaneously. This work introduces a combined approach in which the constraint handling process is combined with metaheuristics to select the most optimal subset of DW views from DWs. The proposed work initially refines the solution to enable a feasible selection of views using the ensemble constraint handling technique (ECHT). The constraints such as self-adaptive… More >

    Musawwer Khan1, Islam Ali1, Shahzada Khurram2, Salman Naseer3, Shafiq Ahmad4, Ahmed T. Soliman4, Akber Abid Gardezi5, Muhammad Shafiq6,*, Jin-Ghoo Choi6

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.2, pp. 3849-3863, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.027387 - 31 October 2022

Abstract The effectiveness of the Business Intelligence (BI) system mainly depends on the quality of knowledge it produces. The decision-making process is hindered, and the user’s trust is lost, if the knowledge offered is undesired or of poor quality. A Data Warehouse (DW) is a huge collection of data gathered from many sources and an important part of any BI solution to assist management in making better decisions. The Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) process is the backbone of a DW system, and it is responsible for moving data from source systems into the DW system.… More >

Neutrosophic Adaptive Clustering Optimization in Genetic Algorithm and Its Application in Cubic Assignment Problem

    Fangwei Zhang1,2,*, Shihe Xu3, Bing Han4, Liming Zhang2, Jun Ye5

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.134, No.3, pp. 2211-2226, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.022418 - 20 September 2022

Abstract In optimization theory, the adaptive control of the optimization process is an important goal that people pursue. To solve this problem, this study introduces the idea of neutrosophic decision-making into classical heuristic algorithm, and proposes a novel neutrosophic adaptive clustering optimization thought, which is applied in a novel neutrosophic genetic algorithm (NGA), for example. The main feature of NGA is that the NGA treats the crossover effect as a neutrosophic fuzzy set, the variation ratio as a structural parameter, the crossover effect as a benefit parameter and the variation effect as a cost parameter, and More >

Competency Driven Resource Evaluation Method for Business Process Intelligence

Abid Sohail1,*, Dhanapal Durai Dominic2, Mohammad Hijji3, Muhammad Arif Butt4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.1, pp. 1141-1157, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.018023 - 04 June 2021

Abstract Enterprises are continuously aiming at improving the execution of processes to achieve a competitive edge. One of the established ways of improving process performance is to assign the most appropriate resources to each task of the process. However, evaluations of business process improvement approaches have established that a method that can guide decision-makers to identify the most appropriate resources for a task of process improvement in a structured way, is missing. It is because the relationship between resources and tasks is less understood and advancement in business process intelligence is also ignored. To address this More >
