    Suogui Shang1, Kechao Gao1, Qingbin Wang1, Xinghua Zhang1, Pengli Zhou2,3,*, Jianhua Li2,3, Peng Chu2,3

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.9, pp. 2505-2524, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.050094 - 19 August 2024

Abstract Hydraulic fracturing is a mature and effective method for deep oil and gas production, which provides a foundation for deep oil and gas production. One of the key aspects of implementing hydraulic fracturing technology lies in understanding mechanics response characteristics of rocks in deep reservoirs under complex stress conditions. In this work, based on outcrop core samples, high-stress triaxial compression tests were designed to simulate the rock mechanics behavior of deep reservoirs in Bozhong Sag. Additionally, this study analyzes the deformation and damage law for rock under different stress conditions. Wherein, with a particular focus… More >

    Wei Chen1,*, Wenhao Zhao1, Yue Liang1, Frederic Skoczylas2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.9, pp. 2417-2430, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.030028 - 16 May 2023

Abstract The design of an underground nuclear waste disposal requires a full characterization of concrete under various thermo-hydro-mechanical-chemical conditions. This experimental work studied the characterization of coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical effects using concretes made with cement CEM I or CEM V/A (according to European norms). Uniaxial and triaxial compression under 5 MPa confining pressure tests were performed under three different temperatures (T = 20°C, 50°C, and 80°C). The two concretes were dried under relative humidity (RH) to obtain a partially saturated state of approximately 70%. The results showed that the effects of water saturation and confining pressure are… More >

Mechanical Properties of Self-Compacting Rubberized Concrete with Different Rubber Types under Triaxial Compression

    Chunli Meng1, Weishu Fu1,*, Jianzeng Shen2,*, Yisheng Su1,2, Chunying Ye1

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.2, pp. 581-598, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.022074 - 22 September 2022

Abstract Different rubber aggregates lead to changes in the effect of stress conditions on the mechanical behavior of concrete, and studies on the triaxial properties of self-compacting rubber concrete (SCRC) are rare. In this study, 35 cylindrical specimens taking lateral stress and rubber type as variables were prepared to study the fresh properties and mechanical behaviors of SCRC under triaxial compression, where the rubber contains two types, i.e., 380 μm rubber powder and 1–4 mm rubber particles, and four contents, i.e., 10%, 20% and 30%. The test results demonstrated that SCRC exhibited a typical oblique shear… More > Graphic Abstract

Mechanical Properties of Soil-Rock Mixture Filling in Fault Zone Based on Mesostructure

    Mei Tao1, Qingwen Ren1,*, Hanbing Bian2, Maosen Cao1, Yun Jia3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.132, No.2, pp. 681-705, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.019522 - 15 June 2022

Abstract Soil-rock mixture (SRM) filling in fault zone is an inhomogeneous geomaterial, which is composed of soil and rock block. It controls the deformation and stability of the abutment and dam foundation, and threatens the long-term safety of high arch dams. To study the macroscopic and mesoscopic mechanical properties of SRM, the development of a viable mesoscopic numerical simulation method with a mesoscopic model generation technology, and a reasonable parametric model is crucially desired to overcome the limitations of experimental conditions, specimen dimensions, and experiment fund. To this end, this study presents a mesoscopic numerical method… More >
