Experimental and Numerical Study on the Transient Flow Behavior in Gasoline Refueling System

    Chenlin Zhu1, Yan Zhao1, Zhitao Jiang1, Jiafeng Xie3, Lifang Zeng2,*, Lijuan Qian1,*

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.22, No.1, pp. 107-127, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2023.044433

Abstract Efficient and secure refueling within the vehicle refueling systems exhibits a close correlation with the issues concerning fuel backflow and gasoline evaporation. This paper investigates the transient flow behavior in fuel hose refilling and simplified tank fuel replenishment using the volume of fluid method. The numerical simulation is validated with the simplified hose refilling experiment and the evaporation simulation of Stefan tube. The effects of injection flow rate and injection directions have been discussed in the fuel hose refilling part. For both the experiment and simulation, the pressure at the end of the refueling pipe… More >

    Mohammad Zohurul Islam1, Rabindra Nath Mondal2, Suvash C. Saha1,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.2, pp. 453-472, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.018160

    Abstract

A depth understanding of fluid flow past a curved duct having rectangular cross-section with different aspect ratios (l) are essential for various engineering applications such as in chemical, mechanical, bio-mechanical and bio-medical engineering. So highly ambitious researchers have given significant attention to study new characteristics of fluid flow in a curved duct. The flow characterization in the rectangular duct has been studied over a wide range of numerical and selective experimental studies. However, proper knowledge with the effects of Coriolis force for different aspect ratios is important for better understanding of the transitional behaviour and

Pressure-Induced Instability Characteristics of a Transient Flow and Energy Distribution through a Loosely Bent Square Duct

Sreedham Chandra Adhikari1, Ratan Kumar Chanda1, Sidhartha Bhowmick1, Rabindra Nath Mondal1, Suvash Chandra Saha2,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.1, pp. 429-451, 2022, DOI:10.32604/EE.2022.018145

Abstract Due to widespread applications of the bent ducts in engineering fields such as in chemical, mechanical, bio-mechanical and bio-medical engineering, scientists have paid considerable attention to invent new characteristics of fluid flow in a bent duct (BD). In the ongoing study, a spectral-based numerical technique is applied to explore flow characteristics and energy distribution through a loosely bent square duct (BSD) of small curvature. Flow is accelerated due to combined action of the non-dimensional parameters; the Grashof number Gr (=1000), the curvature (=0.001), and the Prandtl number Pr (=7.0) over a wide domain of the Dean… More >

A Time Adaptive Scheme for the Solution of the Advection Equation in the Presence of a Transient Flow Velocity

    A. P. S. Selvadurai1, Wenjun Dong

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.12, No.1, pp. 41-54, 2006, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2006.012.041

Abstract A Fourier analysis conducted on both the spatial and the temporal discretizations of the governing partial differential equation shows that the Courant number as well as the time marching scheme have significant influences on the numerical behaviour of a Modified Least Squares (MLS) method for the solution of the advection equation. The variations of the amplification factor and the relative phase velocity with the Courant number and the dimensionless wave number indicate that when Courant number is equal to unity, the MLS method with the specified time-weighting and upwind function gives accurate results. This conclusion… More >
