Grapevine Phenological Quantitative Trait SSR Genotyping Using High-Throughput HRM-PCR Analysis

    Murad Awad1, Photini V. Mylona2, Alexios N. Polidoros1,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.89, No.4, pp. 905-923, 2020, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2020.011235

Abstract Discrimination among grapevine varieties based on quantitative traits, such as flowering, veraison and ripening dates is crucial for variety selection in the context of climate change and in breeding programs. These traits are under complex genetic control for which 6 linked SSR loci (VVS2, VVIn16, VMC7G3, VrZAG29, VMC5G7, and VVIB23) have been identified. Using these markers in HRM-PCR analysis, we assessed genetic diversity among a large collection of 192 grapevine varieties. The grapevine germplasm used encompasses the majority of Greek vineyard with 181 varieties, 3 prominent foreign varieties and 11 varieties of Palestinian origin. The SSR markers used were highly… More >

Parametric Evaluation of Routing Algorithms in Network on Chip Architecture

    Mohammad Behrouzian Nejad

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.35, No.5, pp. 367-375, 2020, DOI:10.32604/csse.2020.35.367

Abstract Considering that routing algorithms for the Network on Chip (NoC) architecture is one of the key issues that determine its ultimate performance, several things have to be considered for developing new routing algorithms. This includes examining the strengths, capabilities, and weaknesses of the commonly proposed algorithms as a starting point for developing new ones.
Because most of the algorithms presented are based on the well-known algorithms that are studied and evaluated in this research. Finally, according to the results produced under different conditions, better decisions can be made when using the aforementioned algorithms as well as when presenting new routing… More >

Traffic Queuing Management in the Internet of Things: An Optimized RED Algorithm Based Approach

Abdul Waheed1,2,*, Naila Habib Khan3, Mahdi Zareei4, Shahab Ul Islam5, Latif Jan5,6, Arif Iqbal Umar1, Ehab Mahmoud Mohamed7,8

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.1, pp. 359-372, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.012196

Abstract Congestion control is one of the main obstacles in cyberspace traffic. Overcrowding in internet traffic may cause several problems; such as high packet hold-up, high packet dropping, and low packet output. In the course of data transmission for various applications in the Internet of things, such problems are usually generated relative to the input. To tackle such problems, this paper presents an analytical model using an optimized Random Early Detection (RED) algorithm-based approach for internet traffic management. The validity of the proposed model is checked through extensive simulation-based experiments. An analysis is observed for different functions on internet traffic. Four… More >

Prophet_TD Routing Algorithm Based on Historical Throughput and Encounter Duration

    Jingjian Chen1, Gang Xu1, *, Fengqi Wei1, Liqiang He2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.64, No.3, pp. 1845-1858, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.010010

Abstract Opportunistic networks are self-organizing networks that do not require a complete path between the source node and the destination node as it uses encounter opportunities brought by nodes movement to achieve network communication. Opportunistic networks routing algorithms are numerous and can be roughly divided into four categories based on different forwarding strategies. The Prophet routing algorithm is an important routing algorithm in opportunistic networks. It forwards messages based on the encounter probability between nodes, and has good innovation significance and optimization potential. However, the Prophet routing algorithm does not consider the impact of the historical throughput of the node on… More >

High-Throughput MicroRNA and mRNA Sequencing Reveals that MicroRNAs May Be Involved in Pectinesterase-Mediated Cold Resistance in Potato

    Chongchong Yan1, Qianqian Wang1, Nan Zhang2, Jiajia Wang1, Xuexiang Ren1, Bingjie Xue3, Xiaojing Pu4, Zhihong Xu4, Huajun Liao1,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.89, No.3, pp. 561-586, 2020, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2020.010322

Abstract Since potato cultivars are sensitive to low temperature, cold injury severely affects the geographical distribution and yield of potato. Although some miRNAs have been identified in response to cold stress in plants, there is no report about the role of miRNAs in the response to cold stress in potato. Here, via high throughput sequencing, we described the profiling of cold stress response to miRNA and mRNA in potato. Two small RNA and six mRNA libraries were constructed and sequenced. 296 known and 211 novel miRNAs were identified, in which 34 miRNAs in Cold Group (CG) had the higher expression quantity… More >

Power Control and Routing Selection for Throughput Maximization in Energy Harvesting Cognitive Radio Networks

    Xiaoli He1, 2, Hong Jiang1, *, Yu Song1, 3, Muhammad Owais4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.63, No.3, pp. 1273-1296, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.09908

Abstract This paper investigates the power control and routing problem in the communication process of an energy harvesting (EH) multi-hop cognitive radio network (CRN). The secondary user (SU) nodes (i.e., source node and relay nodes) harvest energy from the environment and use the energy exclusively for transmitting data. The SU nodes (i.e., relay nodes) on the path, store and forward the received data to the destination node. We consider a real world scenario where the EH-SU node has only local causal knowledge, i.e., at any time, each EH-SU node only has knowledge of its own EH process, channel state and currently… More >

Hardware Circuit Implementation and Performance Analysis of Three-Slot NP-CSMA

    Xu Lu1, Hongwei Ding1,*, Zejun Han1, Zhijun Yang1, Liqing Wang1, Liyong Bao1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.119, No.3, pp. 639-658, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2019.04813

Abstract The development of wireless communication technology has become increasingly important in the communications industry. How to allocate limited channel resources reasonably and reliably to each competing user is a problem that the access protocol of the MAC (Multiple Access Control) layer needs to solve. As an important way of random access, NP-CSMA (Non Persistent Carrier Sense Multiple Access) has a higher network throughput rate when the arrival rate is higher. This paper analyzes and improves the implemented NP-CSMA model, and obtains a three-slot NP-CSMA model. The mathematical tool MATLAB is used to analyze the network throughput, delay and energy efficiency… More >

Profile Analysis of Regularly Microstructured Surfaces

    H. Payer1, T. Haschke1, R. Reichardt1, G. Li2, K. Graf2,3, W. Wiechert1,3

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.4, No.2, pp. 61-76, 2008, DOI:10.3970/fdmp.2008.004.061

Abstract Microstructured surfaces are of steadily increasing importance in a large variety of technological applications. For the purpose of quality assurance, e.g. during variation studies of experimental parameters or for comparison with results from simulations, the surface geometry must be precisely measured and described in terms of geometric parameters. An analysis tool for regularly structured surfaces is presented that performs a highly automated evaluation of surface scanning data and derives geometric quality control parameters. To demonstrate the power of the analysis tool it is exemplarily applied for the investigation of microcraters emerging after the evaporation of micrometer-sized toluene droplets on a… More >
