Wei Tiana , Mingjun Panga,*, Na Xub,†

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.16, No.1, pp. 1-12, 2021, DOI:10.5098/hmt.16.13

Abstract Drag reduction (DR) by the additive of mixed surfactant and polymer is investigated in detail in a rotating disk apparatus (RDA). Polyethylene oxide (PEO) and Cetyltrimethyl ammonium chloride (CTAC)/sodium salicylate (NaSal) are chosen as polymer and surfactant, respectively. It is investigated on the influence of combination concentration of polymer & surfactant, temperature and Reynolds number on the drag-reducing rate. The present experimental results show that the drag-reducing rate of the mixed solution is definitely higher than that of the pure PEO or CTAC/NaSal solutions. This phenomenon is especially sharp at the high temperature and/or the large Reynolds number. When the… More >

    Oncology Research, Vol.30, No.2, pp. 53-64, 2022, DOI:10.32604/or.2022.026302

Abstract Previous studies have shown that PRDX5 and Nrf2 are antioxidant proteins related to abnormal reactive oxidative species (ROS). PRDX5 and Nrf2 play a critical role in the progression of inflammations and tumors. The combination of PRDX5 and Nrf2 was examined by Co-immunoprecipitation, western blotting and Immunohistochemistry. H2O2 was applied to affect the production of ROS and induced multi-resistant protein 1 (MRP1) expression in NSCLC cells. The zebrafish models mainly investigated the synergistic effects of PRDX5 and Nrf2 on lung cancer drug resistance under oxidative stress. We showed that PRDX5 and Nrf2 form a complex and significantly increase the NSCLC tissues… More >

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.2, pp. 471-485, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.023660

Abstract Heavy metal-polluted soil was collected from the Pulang copper mine in Shangri-La City, Yunnan Province, Southwest China. The effects of fertilizer (organic and inorganic) and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) on ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum L.) growth, root morphology, mineral nutrition and cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb) contents were investigated by pot experiments. The results showed that both fertilizer and AMF significantly ameliorated the root morphology and mineral nutrition, reduced the Cd and Pb contents, and promoted the growth of ryegrass. Among all treatments, the combined application of organic–inorganic compound fertilizer with AMF had the highest effect, resulting in increases in root… More >

    Yongming Chen1,2,#, Shuai Huang1,#, Han Zhao1, Ru Yang2, Yining He1, Tianyu Zhao1, Yunlong Zhang1, Qinghong Kong1,*, Shasha Sun3,*, Junhao Zhang3

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.12, pp. 3119-3130, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.019576

Abstract To enhance the thermal stability and flame retardancy of epoxy resin (EP), beta-cyclodextrin (β-CD) is successfully introduced into the layered tin phenylphosphonate (SnPP), which is incorporated into EP matrix for preparing EP/β-CD@SnPP composites. The results indicate that the addition of β-CD@SnPP obviously improve the thermal stability and residual yield of EP composites at higher temperature. When the amount of β-CD@SnPP is only 4 wt%, EP/4β-CD@SnPP composites pass V-1 rating, and LOI value is up to 30.8%. Meanwhile, β- CD@SnPP effectively suppress the heat release and reduce the smoke production of EP/β-CD@SnPP composites in combustion, and the peak heat release rate… More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.11, pp. 2937-2947, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.019590

Abstract Nano filler synergistic intumescent flame retardant (IFR) system is an effective way to improve the flame retardant properties of polymer. In this study, the effects of montmorillonite (MMT) on the flame retardant properties of polylactic acid/layered double hydroxides (PLA/LDH) and PLA/IFR/LDH were investigated. The results show that both LDH and LDH/IFR can reduce the peak heat release rate (HRR) of PLA and prolong the combustion time of PLA; When a proportionate MMT is introduced into PLA/LDH and PLA/IFR/LDH systems, respectively, MMT will not only affect the degradation process of PLA composites during combustion, but also the PLA composites can form… More >

    Karima Ben Hamou1,2,*, Amal Kadimi1, Remo Merijs Meri3, Sergei Gaidukov3, Hamid Kaddami1, Mustapha Raihane1, Mouhamed Lahcini1, Fouad Erchiqui2

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.8, No.3, pp. 301-317, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2020.08141

Abstract This work reports a comprehensive study on poly (Ethylmethacrylateco-Acrylonitrile) Poly(EMA-AN) nanocomposites reinforced with a hybrid mixture of nanoreiforcements based on nanocrystals of cellulose (NCC) (1 or 5% wt) and halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) (1 or 5% wt). The morphology, thermal and mechanical properties of these nanocomposites were characterized. Homogeneous dispersion of the nanofillers has been shown by scanning electron microscopy. A significant increase of the rubbery modulus and glass transition temperature were obtained upon filler addition, due to the reduction of mobility of the matrix macromolecular chains. On the other hand, compared with the neat Poly(EMAAN), the storage modulus of the… More >
