Genetic Algorithm Based 7-Level Step-Up Inverter with Reduced Harmonics and Switching Devices

    T. Anand Kumar1,*, M. Kaliamoorthy1, I. Gerald Christopher Raj2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.3, pp. 3081-3097, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.028769 - 17 August 2022

Abstract This paper presents a unique voltage-raising topology for a single-phase seven-level inverter with triple output voltage gain using single input source and two switched capacitors. The output voltage has been boosted up to three times the value of input voltage by configuring the switched capacitors in series and parallel combinations which eliminates the use of additional step-up converters and transformers. The selective harmonic elimination (SHE) approach is used to remove the lower-order harmonics. The optimal switching angles for SHE is determined using the genetic algorithm. These switching angles are combined with a level-shifted pulse width More >

PMSG Based Wind Energy Conversion System Using Intelligent MPPT with HGRSC Converter

    S. Kirubadevi*, S. Sutha

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.34, No.2, pp. 895-910, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.025395 - 03 May 2022

Abstract Wind power conversion systems play a significant position in grid-coupled renewable source networks. In this paper, a permanent magnet based synchronous alternator type wind energy scheme is considered for analysis. The enhanced performance of wind power conversion could be reached by improving maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and by modernising the control circuit of the power electronic circuit. The main task is to enrich its performance level by proposing fuzzy gain scheduling (FGS) based optimal torque management for maximum power point tracking. In addition to the improved MPPT, this article analyses different topologies of direct More >

A Novel Single Switch High Gain DC-DC Converter Topology for Renewable Energy Systems

    G. Indira Kishore1, M. Premkumar1,*, Ramesh Kumar Tripathi2, Chandra Sekhar Nalamati2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.2, pp. 199-209, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.014079 - 23 December 2020

Abstract Renewable energy with sources such as photovoltaic (PV) or fuel cells can be utilized for the generation of electrical power. But these sources generate fewer voltage values and therefore require high gain converters to match with DC bus voltage in microgrids. These high gain converters can be implemented with switched capacitors to meet the required DC bus voltage. Switched capacitors operate in a series and parallel combination during switching operation and produce high static gain, limits reverse voltage that appears across the components. A novel converter is proposed that satisfies all the features such as More >
