    Yuanyuan Hao1, Dongye Lyu2, Siyu Zhang1, Bin Guo3,*, Jin Yan4,*

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.26, No.10, pp. 865-873, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ijmhp.2024.055231 - 31 October 2024

Abstract Background: Youth emerge as an essential period in forming lifelong health and well-being. During adolescence, physical activity (PA) improves cardiovascular health, fitness levels, and the prevention of chronic illnesses, and the positive effect is also extended to the mental realm, as PA reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression. Therefore, the current study aims to enhance our understanding of the correlation between sports participation and depressive symptoms. Additionally, it seeks to explore how demographics such as gender, age, and race can shape these connections. Methods: The research sample was established by utilising the U.S. Youth Risk… More >

Abstract In the modern era of a growing population, it is arduous for humans to monitor every aspect of sports, events occurring around us, and scenarios or conditions. This recognition of different types of sports and events has increasingly incorporated the use of machine learning and artificial intelligence. This research focuses on detecting and recognizing events in sequential photos characterized by several factors, including the size, location, and position of people’s body parts in those pictures, and the influence around those people. Common approaches utilized, here are feature descriptors such as MSER (Maximally Stable Extremal Regions),… More >

SNG-TE: Sports News Generation with Text-Editing Model

Qiang Xu*, Wei Zhang, Hui Ding, Shengwei Ji

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.1, pp. 1067-1080, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.037599 - 29 April 2023

Abstract Currently, the amount of sports news is increasing, given the number of sports available. As a result, manually writing sports news requires high labor costs to achieve the intended efficiency. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the automatic generation of sports news. Most available news generation methods mainly rely on real-time commentary sentences, which have the following limitations: (1) unable to select suitable commentary sentences for news generation, and (2) the generated sports news could not accurately describe game events. Therefore, this study proposes a sports news generation with text-editing model (SNG-TE) is proposed to… More >

    Sanyou Yan1,*, Huaqing Yan2

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.25, No.2, pp. 249-263, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ijmhp.2023.023031 - 02 February 2023

Abstract The purpose of this study is to observe the occupational stress and chronic anxiety of college teachers and to carry out alternate activities of aerobic exercise to improve their mental health, the participants are 214 teachers from three universities in Yunnan Province, China. The results show that before the experiment, the overall situation of college teachers’ occupational stress and chronic anxiety is at a high level, while after the experiment, the occupational stress and chronic anxiety of college teachers are significantly relieved. In terms of gender, male teachers have higher occupational stress and chronic anxiety… More >

A Research on the Air Permeability of High Polymer Materials Used to Produce Sports Clothing Fabrics

    Jike Gao1, Fawei Li2,*, Shangjun Liu1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.5, pp. 1173-1187, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.021140 - 30 November 2022

Abstract Composite fabrics based on Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) polymer displays several notable properties. They are waterproof, windproof, permeable to moisture and thermally insulating at the same time. In the present study, PTFE fibers are used as raw material to make fiber membranes. The film is formed by crisscrossing interconnected fiber filaments and the related air permeability: tensile creep characteristics and other properties are tested. The results show that the pore size, thickness, and porosity of the film itself can affect the moisture permeability of the film. The water pressure resistance of the selected fabric is 8.5 kPa, More >

Spatio-temporal pattern detection in spatio-temporal graphs

Use case of invasive team sports and urban road traffic

Kamaldeep Singh Oberoi1, Géraldine Del Mondo2

    Revue Internationale de Géomatique, Vol.31, No.2, pp. 377-399, 2022, DOI:10.3166/rig31.377-400

Abstract Spatio-temporal (ST) graphs have been used in many application domains to model evolving ST phenomenon. Such models represent the underlying structure of the phenomenon in terms of its entities and different types of spatial interactions between them. The reason behind using graph-based models to represent ST phenomenon is due to the existing well-established graph analysis tools and algorithms which can be directly applied to analyze the phenomenon under consideration. In this paper, considering the use case of two distinct, highly dynamic phenomena - invasive team sports, with a focus on handball and urban road traffic,… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.1, pp. 1995-2014, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.025077 - 24 February 2022

Abstract Timetabling problem is among the most difficult operational tasks and is an important step in raising industrial productivity, capability, and capacity. Such tasks are usually tackled using metaheuristics techniques that provide an intelligent way of suggesting solutions or decision-making. Swarm intelligence techniques including Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) have proved to be effective examples. Different recent experiments showed that the PSO algorithm is reliable for timetabling in many applications such as educational and personnel timetabling, machine scheduling, etc. However, having an optimal solution is extremely challenging but having a sub-optimal solution using heuristics or metaheuristics is… More >

Abstract In the new era of technology, daily human activities are becoming more challenging in terms of monitoring complex scenes and backgrounds. To understand the scenes and activities from human life logs, human-object interaction (HOI) is important in terms of visual relationship detection and human pose estimation. Activities understanding and interaction recognition between human and object along with the pose estimation and interaction modeling have been explained. Some existing algorithms and feature extraction procedures are complicated including accurate detection of rare human postures, occluded regions, and unsatisfactory detection of objects, especially small-sized objects. The existing HOI… More >
