From Spatial Domain to Patch-Based Models: A Comprehensive Review and Comparison of Multimodal Medical Image Denoising Algorithms

    Apoorav Sharma1, Ayush Dogra2,*, Bhawna Goyal3, Archana Saini2, Vinay Kukreja2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.85, No.1, pp. 367-481, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.066481 - 29 August 2025

Abstract To enable proper diagnosis of a patient, medical images must demonstrate no presence of noise and artifacts. The major hurdle lies in acquiring these images in such a manner that extraneous variables, causing distortions in the form of noise and artifacts, are kept to a bare minimum. The unexpected change realized during the acquisition process specifically attacks the integrity of the image’s quality, while indirectly attacking the effectiveness of the diagnostic process. It is thus crucial that this is attended to with maximum efficiency at the level of pertinent expertise. The solution to these challenges… More >

FuzzyStego: An Adaptive Steganographic Scheme Using Fuzzy Logic for Optimizing Embeddable Areas in Spatial Domain Images

Mardhatillah Shevy Ananti1, Adifa Widyadhani Chanda D’Layla1, Ntivuguruzwa Jean De La Croix1,2, Tohari Ahmad1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.84, No.1, pp. 1031-1054, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.061246 - 09 June 2025

Abstract In the evolving landscape of secure communication, steganography has become increasingly vital to secure the transmission of secret data through an insecure public network. Several steganographic algorithms have been proposed using digital images with a common objective of balancing a trade-off between the payload size and the quality of the stego image. In the existing steganographic works, a remarkable distortion of the stego image persists when the payload size is increased, making several existing works impractical to the current world of vast data. This paper introduces FuzzyStego, a novel approach designed to enhance the stego… More >

Unveiling the Hidden Pixels: A Comprehensive Exploration of Digital Image Steganography Schemes

    Nagaraj V. Dharwadkar*

    Journal of Information Hiding and Privacy Protection, Vol.7, pp. 1-31, 2025, DOI:10.32604/jihpp.2025.060898 - 27 March 2025

Abstract Steganography, the art of concealing information within innocuous mediums, has been practiced for centuries and continues to evolve with advances in digital technology. In the modern era, steganography has become an essential complementary tool to cryptography, offering an additional layer of security, stealth, and deniability in digital communications. With the rise of cyber threats such as hacking, malware, and phishing, it is crucial to adopt methods that protect the confidentiality and integrity of data. This review focuses specifically on text-in-image steganography, exploring a range of techniques, including Least Significant Bit (LSB), Pixel Value Differencing (PVD),… More >

Weber Law Based Approach for Multi-Class Image Forgery Detection

    Arslan Akram1,3, Javed Rashid2,3,4, Arfan Jaffar1, Fahima Hajjej5, Waseem Iqbal6, Nadeem Sarwar7,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.78, No.1, pp. 145-166, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.041074 - 30 January 2024

Abstract Today’s forensic science introduces a new research area for digital image analysis for multimedia security. So, Image authentication issues have been raised due to the wide use of image manipulation software to obtain an illegitimate benefit or create misleading publicity by using tempered images. Exiting forgery detection methods can classify only one of the most widely used Copy-Move and splicing forgeries. However, an image can contain one or more types of forgeries. This study has proposed a hybrid method for classifying Copy-Move and splicing images using texture information of images in the spatial domain. Firstly, More >

Soft Computing Based Discriminator Model for Glaucoma Diagnosis

    Anisha Rebinth1,*, S. Mohan Kumar2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.42, No.3, pp. 867-880, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.022955 - 08 February 2022

Abstract In this study, a Discriminator Model for Glaucoma Diagnosis (DMGD) using soft computing techniques is presented. As the biomedical images such as fundus images are often acquired in high resolution, the Region of Interest (ROI) for glaucoma diagnosis must be selected at first to reduce the complexity of any system. The DMGD system uses a series of pre-processing; initial cropping by the green channel’s intensity, Spatially Weighted Fuzzy C Means (SWFCM), blood vessel detection and removal by Gaussian Derivative Filters (GDF) and inpainting algorithms. Once the ROI has been selected, the numerical features such as More >

Image Steganography in Spatial Domain: Current Status, Techniques, and Trends

    Adeeb M. Alhomoud*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.27, No.1, pp. 69-88, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.014773 - 07 January 2021

Abstract This research article provides an up-to-date review of spatial-domain steganography. Maintaining the communication as secure as possible when transmitting secret data through any available communication channels is the target of steganography. Currently, image steganography is the most developed field, with several techniques are provided for different image formats. Therefore, the general image steganography including the fundamental concepts, the terminology, and the applications are highlighted in this paper. Further, the paper depicts the essential characteristics between information hiding and cryptography systems. In addition, recent well-known techniques in the spatial-domain steganography, such as LSB and pixel value More >
