Fine-Tuned Extra Tree Classifier for Thermal Comfort Sensation Prediction

    Ahmad Almadhor1, Chitapong Wechtaisong2,*, Usman Tariq3, Natalia Kryvinska4,*, Abdullah Al Hejaili5, Uzma Ghulam Mohammad6, Mohana Alanazi7

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.48, No.1, pp. 199-216, 2024, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.039546 - 26 January 2024

Abstract Thermal comfort is an essential component of smart cities that helps to upgrade, analyze, and realize intelligent buildings. It strongly affects human psychological and physiological levels. Residents of buildings suffer stress because of poor thermal comfort. Buildings frequently use Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems for temperature control. Better thermal states directly impact people’s productivity and health. This study revealed a human thermal comfort model that makes better predictions of thermal sensation by identifying essential features and employing a tuned Extra Tree classifier, MultiLayer Perceptron (MLP) and Naive Bayes (NB) models. The study employs More >

Modeling Methods of 3D Model in Digital Twins

    Ruijun Liu1, Haisheng Li1,*, Zhihan Lv2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.136, No.2, pp. 985-1022, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.023154 - 06 February 2023

Abstract To understand the current application and development of 3D modeling in Digital Twins (DTs), abundant literatures on DTs and 3D modeling are investigated by means of literature review. The transition process from 3D modeling to DTs modeling is analyzed, as well as the current application of DTs modeling in various industries. The application of 3D DTs modeling in the fields of smart manufacturing, smart ecology, smart transportation, and smart buildings in smart cities is analyzed in detail, and the current limitations are summarized. It is found that the 3D modeling technology in DTs has broad More >

Secure Multifactor Remote Access User Authentication Framework for IoT Networks

    Mohammed Mujib Alshahrani*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 3235-3254, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015310 - 06 May 2021

Abstract The term IoT refers to the interconnection and exchange of data among devices/sensors. IoT devices are often small, low cost, and have limited resources. The IoT issues and challenges are growing increasingly. Security and privacy issues are among the most important concerns in IoT applications, such as smart buildings. Remote cybersecurity attacks are the attacks which do not require physical access to the IoT networks, where the attacker can remotely access and communicate with the IoT devices through a wireless communication channel. Thus, remote cybersecurity attacks are a significant threat. Emerging applications in smart environments… More >

Systematic Analysis of Safety and Security Risks in Smart Homes

Habib Ullah Khan1,*, Mohammad Kamel Alomari1, Sulaiman Khan2, Shah Nazir2, Asif Qumer Gill3, Alanoud Ali Al-Maadid4, Zaki Khalid Abu-Shawish1, Mostafa Kamal Hassan1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.1, pp. 1409-1428, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016058 - 22 March 2021

Abstract The revolution in Internet of Things (IoT)-based devices and applications has provided smart applications for humans. These applications range from healthcare to traffic-flow management, to communication devices, to smart security devices, and many others. In particular, government and private organizations are showing significant interest in IoT-enabled applications for smart homes. Despite the perceived benefits and interest, human safety is also a key concern. This research is aimed at systematically analyzing the available literature on smart homes and identifying areas of concern or risk with a view to supporting the design of safe and secure smart More >
