    Yuezheng Lan1, Yu Zhao2,*, Zhiping Zhai1, Meihua Fan2, Fushun Li2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.11, pp. 2565-2583, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2024.053362 - 28 October 2024

Abstract The quality of crushing, power consumption, and discharging performance of a straw crusher are greatly influenced by the characteristics of its internal flow field. To enhance the straw crusher’s flow field properties and improve the efficiency with which crushed material is discharged, first, the main structural parameters influencing the air flow in the crusher are discussed. Then, the coupled gas-solid flow field in the straw crusher is numerically calculated through solution of the Navier-Stokes equations and application of the discrete element method (DEM). Finally, the discharge performance index of the crusher is examined through detailed More >

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.22, No.4, pp. 1043-1070, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2024.049525 - 30 August 2024

Abstract This study is focused on the simulation and optimization of packed-bed solar thermal energy storage by using sand as a storage material and hot-water is used as a heat transfer fluid and storage as well. The analysis has been done by using the COMSOL multi-physics software and used to compute an optimization charging time of the storage. Parameters that control this optimization are storage height, storage diameter, heat transfer fluid flow rate, and sand bed particle size. The result of COMSOL multi-physics optimized thermal storage has been validated with Taguchi method. Accordingly, the optimized parameters… More >

Simulation and Optimization of the Fluid Solidification Process in Brazed Plate Heat Exchangers

    Weiting Jiang1,*, Lei Zhao1,*, Chongyang Wang2, Tingni He1, Weiguo Pan1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.10, pp. 2597-2611, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.027504 - 25 June 2023

Abstract When a brazed plate heat exchanger is used as an evaporator, the working mass in the channel may undergo solidification, thereby hindering the refrigeration cycle. In this study the liquid solidification process and its optimization in a brazed plate heat exchanger are investigated numerically for different inlet velocities; moreover, different levels of corrugation are considered. The results indicate that solidification first occurs around the contacts, followed by the area behind the contacts. It is also shown that dead flow zones exist in the sharp areas and such areas are prone to liquid solidification. After optimization, More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.3, pp. 1031-1045, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.015984 - 31 March 2022

Abstract A modeling method of regional integrated energy system based on bus method and transient simulation is proposed, and the system optimization is based on the dynamic balance of supply and demand in the whole year energy supply cycle. A CCHP system of gas turbine coupled with ground source heat pump and electric refrigeration unit is constructed. The energy relationship of the system is described by bus structure, and the transient calculation model is built on TRNSYS platform. The weighted sum of annual total cost saving rate, primary energy saving rate and environmental pollutant shadow cost… More >

    Jian Song*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.2, pp. 345-354, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.017382 - 16 December 2021

Abstract Computational Fluid Dynamics is used to assess the thermal (heat transfer) performances of an automobile engine considering different grille opening and closing degrees. For this purpose the entire vehicle is modelled and three fundamental aspects are examined, namely, the open area of the air intake grille, the position of the upper and lower grilles and their shape. The results show that the opening area and position of the grille have some influence also on the aerodynamic characteristics of the automobile. With an increase in the opening angle of the grille, the CD (Drag Coefficient) value of More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.15, pp. 1-8, 2020, DOI:10.5098/hmt.15.22

Abstract In order to improve DMR (double mixed refrigerant) liquefaction process and reduce operation cost of natural gas liquefaction plant, a four-stage DMR process optimization simulation calculation model was established through Aspen Hysys v8.4 and the purpose of the optimization model is achieved by using the segmented compression process in this paper. The minimum energy consumption and the highest exergy efficiency were used as the objective functions. By using the optimizer in HYSYS, the process parameters and ingredient proportion of the mixed refrigerant in the fourstage DMR process was optimized, and the best process parameters and More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.15, No.1, pp. 77-87, 2019, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2019.05949

Abstract In this paper, we take the mid-temperature gravity heat pipe exchanger as the research object, simulate the fluid flow field, temperature field and the working state of heat pipe in the heat exchanger by Fluent software. The effects of different operating parameters and fin parameters on the heat transfer performance of heat exchangers are studied. The results show that the heat transfer performance of the mid-temperature gravity heat pipe exchanger is the best when the fin spacing is between 5 mm and 6 mm, the height of the heat pipe is between 12 mm and More >
