    Journal of Polymer Materials, Vol.36, No.4, pp. 323-335, 2019, DOI:10.32381/JPM.2019.36.04.3

Abstract Types of nucleating agents and their dosage level play an important role on the crystallinity of the polymer which controls the final properties like optical clarity, stiffness and reduced cycle time during molding. In this study, the efficiency of two different types of commercially available nucleating agents, phosphate ester and dicarboxylic acid based, have been studied. Both the nucleating agents were compounded with molding grade polypropylene homopolymer having melt flow index (MFI) of 12 g/10min at 2.16 Kg and 230°C, in a co-rotating twin screw extruder at two different dosage level, i.e. 300 ppm and 600 ppm. The effectiveness of… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.4, pp. 803-814, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.027311

Abstract The effects of different contents of a MgO expansive agent and phosphorus slag on the mechanical properties, shrinkage behavior, and the heat of hydration of concrete were studied. The slump flow, setting time, dry shrinkage, and hydration heat were used as sensitive parameters to assess the response of the considered specimens. As shown by the results, in general, with an increase in the phosphorus slag content, the hydration heat of concrete decreases for all ages, but the early strength displays a downward trend and the dry shrinkage rate increases. The 90-d strength and dry shrinkage of concrete could be improved… More > Graphic Abstract

    Sina Alavi, Mohammad Passandideh-Fard*

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.2, No.2, pp. 1-9, 2011, DOI:10.5098/hmt.v2.2.3007

Abstract In this paper, a numerical study is performed to investigate the effects of thermal shrinkage on the deposition of molten particles on a substrate in a thermal spray process using the Volume-of-Fluid (VOF) method. Thermal shrinkage is a phenomenon caused by the variation of density during cooling and solidification of a molten metal. The Navier-Stokes equations along with the energy equation including phase change are solved using a 2D/axisymmetric mesh. The VOF method is used to track the free surface of molten particles, and an enthalpy-porosity formulation is used to model solidification. For the normal impact of tin particles in… More >

Abstract Objectives: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) poses a significant challenge due to the lack of reliable prognostic gene signatures and an understanding of its immune behavior. Methods: We analyzed clinical information and mRNA expression data from 162 TNBC patients in TCGA-BRCA and 320 patients in METABRIC-BRCA. Utilizing weighted gene coexpression network analysis, we pinpointed 34 TNBC immune genes linked to survival. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator Cox regression method identified key TNBC immune candidates for prognosis prediction. We calculated chemotherapy sensitivity scores using the “pRRophetic” package in R software and assessed immunotherapy response using the Tumor Immune Dysfunction and… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.138, No.3, pp. 2809-2824, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.029181

Abstract Electrocardiogram (ECG) signal is one of the noninvasive physiological measurement techniques commonly used in cardiac diagnosis. However, in real scenarios, the ECG signal is susceptible to various noise erosion, which affects the subsequent pathological analysis. Therefore, the effective removal of the noise from ECG signals has become a top priority in cardiac diagnostic research. Aiming at the problem of incomplete signal shape retention and low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) after denoising, a novel ECG denoising network, named attention-based residual dense shrinkage network (ARDSN), is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the shallow ECG characteristics are extracted by a shallow feature extraction network… More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.5, pp. 2513-2529, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.025275

Abstract Steel slag is characterized by high strength, good wear resistance and micro-expansion. This study aims at exploring the potential of steel slag in cement stabilized aggregates, mainly including mechanical properties, shrinkage and compensation mechanisms. For this purpose, the compressive strength and compressive resilient modulus of cement stabilized aggregates with different steel slag contents (CSMS) were initially investigated. Subsequently, the effects of steel slag and cement on dry shrinkage, temperature shrinkage, and total shrinkage were analyzed through a series of shrinkage test designs. Additionally, in combination with X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Scanning electron microscope (SEM), the characteristic peaks and microscopic images… More >

    Zhihai He1,2, Menglu Shen1, Jinyan Shi3,*, Jingyu Chang1, Víctor Revilla-Cuesta4, Osman Gencel5

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.4, pp. 1835-1852, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.024887

Abstract Recycling solid waste in cement-based materials cannot only ease its load on the natural environment but also reduce the carbon emissions of building materials. This study aims to investigate the effect of recycled glass powder (RGP) on the early-age mechanical properties and autogenous shrinkage of cement pastes, where cement is replaced by 10%, 20% and 30% of RGP. In addition, the microstructure and nano-mechanical properties of cement paste with different RGP content and water to binder (W/B) ratio were also evaluated using SEM, MIP and nanoindentation techniques. The results indicate that the early-age autogenous shrinkage decreases with the increase of… More > Graphic Abstract

A Comprehensive Method for the Optimization of Cement Slurry and to Avoid Air Channeling in High Temperature and High-Pressure Conditions

    Yanjun Li1, Wandong Zhang1, Jiang Wu1, Yuhao Yang1, Chao Zhang1, Huanqiang Yang2,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.5, pp. 1237-1248, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.023147

Abstract Air channeling in the annulus between the casing and the cement sheath and/or between the cement sheath and formation is the main factor affecting the safe operation of natural gas wells at high temperatures and pressures. Prevention of this problem requires, in general, excellent anti-channeling performances of the cement sheath. Three methods to predict such anti-channeling performances are proposed here, which use the weightless pressure of cement slurry, the permeability of cement stone and the volume expansion rate of cement sheath as input parameters. Guided by this approach, the anti-channeling performances of the cement slurry are evaluated by means of… More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.2, pp. 665-680, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.019292

Abstract Aiming at the difficulty of rolling bearing fault diagnosis of wind turbine under noise environment, a new bearing fault identification method based on the Improved Anti-noise Residual Shrinkage Network (IADRSN) is proposed. Firstly, the vibration signals of wind turbine rolling bearings were preprocessed to obtain data samples divided into training and test sets. Then, a bearing fault diagnosis model based on the improved anti-noise residual shrinkage network was established. To improve the ability of fault feature extraction of the model, the convolution layer in the deep residual shrinkage network was replaced with a Dense-Net layer. To further improve the anti-noise… More >
