    Guo-Wen Sun1, Gang Xiang2,3, Wei He1,4,*, Kai Tang1, Zi-Yi Wang1, Hai-Long Zhu1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.1, pp. 1157-1177, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.035667 - 06 February 2023

Abstract Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) operate in complex and harsh environments; thus, node faults are inevitable. Therefore, fault diagnosis of the WSNs node is essential. Affected by the harsh working environment of WSNs and wireless data transmission, the data collected by WSNs contain noisy data, leading to unreliable data among the data features extracted during fault diagnosis. To reduce the influence of unreliable data features on fault diagnosis accuracy, this paper proposes a belief rule base (BRB) with a self-adaptive quality factor (BRB-SAQF) fault diagnosis model. First, the data features required for WSN node fault diagnosis… More >

Atif Ishaq Khan*, Syed Asad Raza Kazmi, Awais Qasim

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 1183-1197, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.032691 - 22 September 2022

Abstract A self-adaptive resource provisioning on demand is a critical factor in cloud computing. The selection of accurate amount of resources at run time is not easy due to dynamic nature of requests. Therefore, a self-adaptive strategy of resources is required to deal with dynamic nature of requests based on run time change in workload. In this paper we proposed a Cloud-based Adaptive Resource Scheduling Strategy (CARSS) Framework that formally addresses these issues and is more expressive than traditional approaches. The decision making in CARSS is based on more than one factors. The MAPE-K based framework More >

Triple Multimodal Cyclic Fusion and Self-Adaptive Balancing for Video Q&A Systems

    Xiliang Zhang1, Jin Liu1,*, Yue Li1, Zhongdai Wu2,3, Y. Ken Wang4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 6407-6424, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.027097 - 28 July 2022

Abstract Performance of Video Question and Answer (VQA) systems relies on capturing key information of both visual images and natural language in the context to generate relevant questions’ answers. However, traditional linear combinations of multimodal features focus only on shallow feature interactions, fall far short of the need of deep feature fusion. Attention mechanisms were used to perform deep fusion, but most of them can only process weight assignment of single-modal information, leading to attention imbalance for different modalities. To address above problems, we propose a novel VQA model based on Triple Multimodal feature Cyclic Fusion More >

Feature Model Configuration Reuse Scheme for Self-Adaptive Systems

    Sumaya Alkubaisi1,*, Said Ghoul2, Oguz Ata1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.1, pp. 1249-1262, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.019434 - 03 November 2021

Abstract Most large-scale systems including self-adaptive systems utilize feature models (FMs) to represent their complex architectures and benefit from the reuse of commonalities and variability information. Self-adaptive systems (SASs) are capable of reconfiguring themselves during the run time to satisfy the scenarios of the requisite contexts. However, reconfiguration of SASs corresponding to each adaptation of the system requires significant computational time and resources. The process of configuration reuse can be a better alternative to some contexts to reduce computational time, effort and error-prone. Nevertheless, systems’ complexity can be reduced while the development process of systems by… More >

    Aiyun Hu1, Sunli Cong1,*, Jian Ding2, Yao Cheng1, Enock Mpofu3

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.38, No.1, pp. 65-77, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.016404 - 01 April 2021

Abstract In the fed-batch cultivation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, excessive glucose addition leads to increased ethanol accumulation, which will reduce the efficiency of glucose utilization and inhibit product synthesis. Insufficient glucose addition limits cell growth. To properly regulate glucose feed, a different evolution algorithm based on self-adaptive control strategy was proposed, consisting of three modules (PID, system identification and parameter optimization). Performance of the proposed and conventional PID controllers was validated and compared in simulated and experimental cultivations. In the simulation, cultivation with the self-adaptive control strategy had a more stable glucose feed rate and concentration, more stable More >

Abstract Long Range Radio (LoRa) has become one of the widely adopted Low-Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technologies in power Internet of Things (PIoT). Its major advantages include long-distance, large links and low power consumption. However, in LoRa-based PIoT, terminals are often deployed in the wild place and are easily affected by bad weather or disaster, which could easily lead to large-scale operation faults and could seriously affect the normal operation of the network. Simultaneously, the distribution characteristics of outdoor terminals with wide coverage and large links lead to a sharp increase in the difficulty and… More >
