    Abstract Due to the large number of finite element mesh generated, it is difficult to use full-scale model to simulate largesection underground engineering, especially considering the coupling effect.     The bonding quality of the cement sheath interface decreases during well completion because of the change in the casing pressure. To explore the root cause of such phenomena, experiments on the mechanical properties and interface bonding strength of a cement sheath have been carried out taking the LS25-1 high-temperature and high-pressure (HTHP) gas field as an example.     Abstract Freeze-sealing pipe roof method is applied in the Gongbei tunnel, which causes the ground surface uplift induced by frost heave. A frost heaving prediction approach based on the coefficient of cold expansion is proposed to simulate the ground deformation of the Gongbei tunnel. The coefficient of cold expansion in the model and the frost heaving rate from the frost heave test under the hydration condition can achieve a good correspondence making the calculation result closer to the actual engineering.     Abstract Taking the combustor composite structure of a high-strength diesel engine as the main research object, dedicated tests have been conducted to verify the accuracy of three distinct cylinder gasket pressure simulation models. Using the measured cylinder gasket compression rebound curve, a gasket unit has been designed and manufactured. For this unit, the influence of the bolt pretension, cylinder body and cylinder head material on gasket sealing pressure has been investigated systematically in conditions of thermo-mechanical coupling.     Abstract This is the first attempt toward the development of robust design methodology applicable to gaskets as there is no such precedent in the sealing industry.
