Laura Schianchi1,*, Fabrizio Vaira2, Massimo Chessa1,3, Serena Francesca Flocco4, Arianna Magon4, Gianluca Conte4, Karina Geraldina Zuniga Olaya5, Giacomo Bortolussi6, Erika Cioffi1, Matteo Riccardo Di Nicola2, Santo Raffaele Mercuri2, Rosario Caruso4,7

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.19, No.4, pp. 363-374, 2024, DOI:10.32604/chd.2024.053999 - 31 October 2024

Abstract Background: Hypertrophic scars and keloids, common complications following median sternotomy for cardiac surgery, significantly impact patient quality of life due to their aesthetic and symptomatic burden. Recent advancements in laser therapy have made it a prominent option for managing these complex scars, yet a comprehensive understanding of its efficacy is lacking. The aim of this scoping review is to explore the effects of laser therapy in managing hypertrophic scars and keloids after median sternotomy. Methods: This scoping review analyzed studies up to February 2024 from databases including PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science, and… More >

Abstract Bladder cancer (BC) is the 10th most common cancer worldwide, with about 0.5 million reported new cases and about 0.2 million deaths per year. In this scoping review, we summarize the current evidence regarding the clinical implications of single-cell sequencing for bladder cancer based on PRISMA guidelines. We searched PubMed, CENTRAL, Embase, and supplemented with manual searches through the Scopus, and Web of Science for published studies until February 2023. We included original studies that used at least one single-cell technology to study bladder cancer. Forty-one publications were included in the review. Twenty-nine studies showed… More > Graphic Abstract

Suicide in Digestive System Cancers: A Scoping Review

    Jie Chen1,2, Xiaoping Ding1,2, Xin Peng3, Deying Hu1,3,*

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.25, No.1, pp. 1-20, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ijmhp.2022.022578 - 29 November 2022

Abstract Digestive system cancers are important causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Cancer patients are more likely to commit suicide. The objective of this scoping review is to provide a comprehensive and updated summary of the existing literature on suicide among patients with digestive system cancers to identify the incidence and risk factors relevant to suicide in these populations. The PRISMA-Scr (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension protocol for scoping reviews) protocol was used. The review was based on relevant articles published prior to January 2022 in databases of Web of Science and… More >

Effect of Mechanical Forces on the Behavior of Dental Stem Cells: A Scoping Review of In-Vitro Studies

Maryam Rezai Rad1, Sadra Mohaghegh2, Farnaz Kouhestani3, Saeed Reza Motamedian4,*

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.18, No.2, pp. 51-67, 2021, DOI:10.32604/mcb.2021.015136 - 09 April 2021

Abstract This article is a scoping review of the studies that assessed the effect of mechanical forces on the behavior of dental stem cells (DSCs). PubMed and Scopus searches were done for in-vitro studies evaluating the effect of tension, hydrostatic pressure (i.e., the pressure applied through an incompressible fluid), compression, simulated microgravity, and vibration on DSCs. The following factors were analyzed: osteogenic/odontogenic differentiation, proliferation, adhesion and migration. Articles were reviewed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews extension for scoping reviews (PRISMA-ScR) guideline. Included studies were evaluated based on the modified Consolidated Standards of Reporting… More >
