Demand-Responsive Transportation Vehicle Routing Optimization Based on Two-Stage Method

Jingfa Ma, Hu Liu*, Lingxiao Chen

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.81, No.1, pp. 443-469, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.056209 - 15 October 2024

Abstract Demand-responsive transportation (DRT) is a flexible passenger service designed to enhance road efficiency, reduce peak-hour traffic, and boost passenger satisfaction. However, existing optimization methods for initial passenger requests fall short in addressing real-time passenger needs. Consequently, there is a need to develop real-time DRT route optimization methods that integrate both initial and real-time requests. This paper presents a two-stage, multi-objective optimization model for DRT vehicle scheduling. The first stage involves an initial scheduling model aimed at minimizing vehicle configuration, and operational, and CO2 emission costs while ensuring passenger satisfaction. The second stage develops a real-time scheduling… More >

Risk-Balanced Routing Strategy for Service Function Chains of Cyber-Physical Power System Considering Cross-Space Cascading Failure

He Wang, Xingyu Tong, Huanan Yu*, Xiao Hu, Jing Bian

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.9, pp. 2525-2542, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.050594 - 19 August 2024

Abstract Cyber-physical power system (CPPS) has significantly improved the operational efficiency of power systems. However, cross-space cascading failures may occur due to the coupling characteristics, which poses a great threat to the safety and reliability of CPPS, and there is an acute need to reduce the probability of these failures. Towards this end, this paper first proposes a cascading failure index to identify and quantify the importance of different information in the same class of communication services. On this basis, a joint improved risk-balanced service function chain routing strategy (SFC-RS) is proposed, which is modeled as More >

QoS Routing Optimization Based on Deep Reinforcement Learning in SDN

    Yu Song1, Xusheng Qian2, Nan Zhang3, Wei Wang2, Ao Xiong1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.79, No.2, pp. 3007-3021, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.051217 - 15 May 2024

Abstract To enhance the efficiency and expediency of issuing e-licenses within the power sector, we must confront the challenge of managing the surging demand for data traffic. Within this realm, the network imposes stringent Quality of Service (QoS) requirements, revealing the inadequacies of traditional routing allocation mechanisms in accommodating such extensive data flows. In response to the imperative of handling a substantial influx of data requests promptly and alleviating the constraints of existing technologies and network congestion, we present an architecture for QoS routing optimization with in Software Defined Network (SDN), leveraging deep reinforcement learning. A Novel Method for Routing Optimization in Software-Defined Networks

    Salem Alkhalaf*, Fahad Alturise

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 6393-6405, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.031698 - 28 July 2022

Abstract Software-defined network (SDN) is a new form of network architecture that has programmability, ease of use, centralized control, and protocol independence. It has received high attention since its birth. With SDN network architecture, network management becomes more efficient, and programmable interfaces make network operations more flexible and can meet the different needs of various users. The mainstream communication protocol of SDN is OpenFlow, which contains a Match Field in the flow table structure of the protocol, which matches the content of the packet header of the data received by the switch, and completes the corresponding… More >

Dynamic Routing Optimization Algorithm for Software Defined Networking

Nancy Abbas El-Hefnawy1,*, Osama Abdel Raouf2, Heba Askr3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 1349-1362, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.017787 - 07 September 2021

Abstract Time and space complexity is the most critical problem of the current routing optimization algorithms for Software Defined Networking (SDN). To overcome this complexity, researchers use meta-heuristic techniques inside the routing optimization algorithms in the OpenFlow (OF) based large scale SDNs. This paper proposes a hybrid meta-heuristic algorithm to optimize the dynamic routing problem for the large scale SDNs. Due to the dynamic nature of SDNs, the proposed algorithm uses a mutation operator to overcome the memory-based problem of the ant colony algorithm. Besides, it uses the box-covering method and the k-means clustering method to More >

Traffic Engineering in Dynamic Hybrid Segment Routing Networks

    Yingya Guo1,2,3,7, Kai Huang1, Cheng Hu4,*, Jiangyuan Yao5, Siyu Zhou6

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.1, pp. 655-670, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016364 - 22 March 2021

Abstract The emergence of Segment Routing (SR) provides a novel routing paradigm that uses a routing technique called source packet routing. In SR architecture, the paths that the packets choose to route on are indicated at the ingress router. Compared with shortest-path-based routing in traditional distributed routing protocols, SR can realize a flexible routing by implementing an arbitrary flow splitting at the ingress router. Despite the advantages of SR, it may be difficult to update the existing IP network to a full SR deployed network, for economical and technical reasons. Updating partial of the traditional IP… More >

    Masood Ahmad1, Fasee Ullah2,*, Ishtiaq Wahid1, Atif Khan3, M. Irfan Uddin4, Abdullah Alharbi5, Wael Alosaimi5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.1, pp. 321-336, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014102 - 12 January 2021

Abstract Internet of Everything (IoE) indicates a fantastic vision of the future, where everything is connected to the internet, providing intelligent services and facilitating decision making. IoE is the collection of static and moving objects able to coordinate and communicate with each other. The moving objects may consist of ground segments and flying segments. The speed of flying segment e.g., Unmanned Ariel Vehicles (UAVs) may high as compared to ground segment objects. The topology changes occur very frequently due to high speed nature of objects in UAV-enabled IoE (Ue-IoE). The routing maintenance overhead may increase when… More >

Abstract In recent years, the infrastructure, instruments, and resources of network systems are becoming more complex and heterogeneous, with the rapid development of current internet and mobile communication technologies. In order to efficaciously prepare, control, hold and optimize networking systems, greater intelligence needs to be deployed. However, due to the inherently dispensed characteristic of conventional networks, Machine Learning (ML) techniques are hard to implement and deployed to govern and operate networks. Software-Defined Networking (SDN) brings us new possibilities to offer intelligence in the networks. SDN’s characteristics (e.g., logically centralized control, global network view, software-based site visitor… More >
