A review on potential heterocycles for the treatment of glioblastoma targeting receptor tyrosine kinases

    NILAM BHUSARE, MAUSHMI KUMAR*

    Oncology Research, Vol.32, No.5, pp. 849-875, 2024, DOI:10.32604/or.2024.047042

Abstract Glioblastoma, the most aggressive form of brain tumor, poses significant challenges in terms of treatment success and patient survival. Current treatment modalities for glioblastoma include radiation therapy, surgical intervention, and chemotherapy. Unfortunately, the median survival rate remains dishearteningly low at 12–15 months. One of the major obstacles in treating glioblastoma is the recurrence of tumors, making chemotherapy the primary approach for secondary glioma patients. However, the efficacy of drugs is hampered by the presence of the blood-brain barrier and multidrug resistance mechanisms. Consequently, considerable research efforts have been directed toward understanding the underlying signaling pathways involved in glioma and developing… More > Graphic Abstract

ZONGQIAN WANG, HAIWEI YANG, JIAN XING, ZHI LIU*

    Journal of Polymer Materials, Vol.36, No.2, pp. 149-159, 2019, DOI:10.32381/JPM.2019.36.02.4

Abstract Colored silk fibroin (SF) film can change the proportion of transmitted light composition and therefore shows potential application in optoelectronics area. However, few methods are reported for the preparation of colored SF film with good color fastness. Herein, colored SF film was prepared by coupling modification dyeing (CM-dyeing) of SF tyrosine residues in solution. SF film shows excellent color fastness due to the formation of the azo covalent bond formed by electrophilic substitution reaction between SF tyrosine residues and aniline diazonium salt. Furthermore, compared with the undyed film, the dyed SF film is effectively preserved its mechanical property by the… More >

WEIXUE WANG#, TONGTONG WANG#, YAN ZHANG, TING DENG, HAIYANG ZHANG*, YI BA*

    Oncology Research, Vol.32, No.3, pp. 489-502, 2024, DOI:10.32604/or.2023.046676

Abstract Different from necrosis, apoptosis, autophagy and other forms of cell death, ferroptosis is a mechanism that catalyzes lipid peroxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids under the action of iron divalent or lipoxygenase, leading to cell death. Apatinib is currently used in the third-line standard treatment of advanced gastric cancer, targeting the anti-angiogenesis pathway. However, Apatinib-mediated ferroptosis in vascular endothelial cells has not been reported yet. Tumor-secreted exosomes can be taken up into target cells to regulate tumor development, but the mechanism related to vascular endothelial cell ferroptosis has not yet been discovered. Here, we show that exosomes secreted by gastric cancer… More >

Zhengqing Ding, Quan Yang, Xinyan Yan, Feng Gu, Xujuan Huang*, Zhaosheng Cai*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.12, No.1, pp. 103-117, 2024, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.029424

Abstract Dehydroabietyl polyethylene glycol glycidyl ether-grafted hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) polymer surfactant (DA(EO)5GE-g-HEC) was prepared using ring-opening polymerization with biobased rosin and hydroxyethyl cellulose as feedstocks. Dehydroabietyl polyethylene glycol glycidyl ether (DA(EO)5GE) was formed by condensation of dehydroabietyl alcohol polyoxyethylene ether (Rosin derivative: DA(EO)5H) and epichlorohydrin. The grafting degree of DA(EO)5GE-g-HEC was manipulated by adjusting the mass ratio of HEC and DA(EO)5GE and confirmed by EA. According to the formula, when m(HEC)/m(DA(EO)2GE) was 1:1~1:5, the grafting rate of DA(EO)5GE in DA(EO)5GE-g-HEC varied from 34.43% to 38.33%. The surface activity and foam properties of DA(EO)5GE-g-HEC aqueous solution were studied. The results showed that… More > Graphic Abstract

Shuangsheng Zhang, Bin Sun, Siyu Li, Xiangyu Lin, Muhua Chen*, Xu Xu*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.2, pp. 853-865, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.022901

Abstract Hydrogels have been widely applied in agricultural drought-resistance, pollution regulation, drug delivery and so on. Acrylamide (AM) is usually used as raw material to synthesize acrylamide hydrogels. However, inherently low mechanical strength greatly limits their applications in some special areas. Therefore, it is necessary to choose suitable functional monomers to optimize acrylamide hydrogels and improve their mechanical performances. In this paper, a novel acrylamide monomer modified by rosin was synthesized, and then polyacrylamide/rosin-based acrylamide (RAM) composite hydrogels were prepared via free radical polymerization using potassium persulfate as initiator, N, N′-methylene-bisacrylamide (MBA) as a crosslinker. The influence of RAM monomer was… More > Graphic Abstract

Weishan Tang, Xin Feng, Caiyun Lin, Xiaoping Rao*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.2, pp. 523-538, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.022809

Abstract Environment friendly and intelligent surfactants have attracted great attention in recent years. A bio-based CO2 responsive surfactant rosin acid dimaleimide choline (R-BMI-C) with an extremely rigid skeleton was prepared using rosin and choline as raw materials by Diels-Alder addition reaction and acid-base neutralization reactions. Its structure was confirmed by IR and 1H NMR spectra. The foams’ properties of R-BMI-C could be adjusted by bubbling CO2/N2 to change the structure of the surfactant. At pH 10.4, R-BMI-C forms an unstable foam with a half-life of 1.5 h. When the pH was reduced to 7.4 by bubbling CO2, R-BMI-C forms an extremely… More > Graphic Abstract
