    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.19, No.1, pp. 107-121, 2024, DOI:10.32604/chd.2024.045953

Abstract Objective: Accurate measurement of QT interval, the ventricular action potential from depolarization to repolarization, is important for the early detection of Long QT syndrome. The most effective QT correction (QTc) formula has yet to be determined in the pediatric population, although it has intrinsically greater extremes in heart rate (HR) and is more susceptible to errors in measurement. The authors of this study compare six different QTc methods (Bazett, Fridericia, Framingham, Hodges, Rautaharju, and a computer algorithm utilizing the Bazett formula) for consistency against variations in HR and RR interval. Methods: Descriptive Retrospective Study. We… More >

Abstract Intravesical Bacillus Calmette Guerin (BCG) is the gold standard therapy for intermediate/high-risk nonmuscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). However, the response rate is ~60%, and 50% of non-responders will progress to muscle-invasive disease. BCG induces massive local infiltration of inflammatory cells (Th1) and ultimately cytotoxic tumor elimination. We searched for predictive biomarker of BCG response by analyzing tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) polarization in the tumor microenvironment (TME) in pre-treatment biopsies. Pre-treatment biopsies from patients with NMIBC who received adequate intravesical instillation of BCG (n = 32) were evaluated retrospectively by immunohistochemistry. TME polarization was assessed by quantifying… More > Graphic Abstract

    Oncology Research, Vol.27, No.6, pp. 635-641, 2019, DOI:10.3727/096504018X15288447760357

Abstract Apatinib is an oral TKI with antiangiogenic properties, and it is currently approved for the treatment of advanced gastric cancer in China. This agent has also been tested in other human solid tumors, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Since the combination of chemotherapy and an antiangiogenic agent has been shown to be a feasible strategy in NSCLC, it is conceivable that a similar approach combining apatinib with chemotherapy may yield clinical activity. With this in mind, we investigated the efficiency of apatinib in combination with pemetrexed or docetaxel in advanced NSCLC. We treated a… More >

Abstract Melanoma is an aggressive malignancy with a poor prognosis. Current studies show that imatinib treatment is a promising approach in treating advanced melanoma patients harboring c-Kit mutations or amplifications. We retrospectively analyzed the clinical medical records of 78 patients with metastatic melanoma harboring c-Kit mutations or amplifications. These patients were treated with imatinib at a dose of 400 mg/day continuously unless intolerable toxicities or disease progression occurred. Endpoints for exploration included overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), objective response rate (ORR), and disease of control rate (DCR). The median OS and PFS of all patients were More >
