Abstract The overgrowth of weeds growing along with the primary crop in the fields reduces crop production. Conventional solutions like hand weeding are labor-intensive, costly, and time-consuming; farmers have used herbicides. The application of herbicide is effective but causes environmental and health concerns. Hence, Precision Agriculture (PA) suggests the variable spraying of herbicides so that herbicide chemicals do not affect the primary plants. Motivated by the gap above, we proposed a Deep Learning (DL) based model for detecting Eggplant (Brinjal) weed in this paper. The key objective of this study is to detect plant and non-plant (weed) parts from crop images.… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.136, No.1, pp. 347-362, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.024909

Abstract This study aims to apply ResNet-18 convolutional neural network (CNN) and XGBoost to preoperative computed tomography (CT) images and clinical data for distinguishing Xp11.2 translocation renal cell carcinoma (Xp11.2 tRCC) from common subtypes of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) in order to provide patients with individualized treatment plans. Data from 45 patients with Xp11.2 tRCC from January 2007 to December 2021 are collected. Clear cell RCC (ccRCC), papillary RCC (pRCC), or chromophobe RCC (chRCC) can be detected from each patient. CT images are acquired in the following three phases: unenhanced, corticomedullary, and nephrographic. A unified framework is proposed for the classification… More >

Convolutional Bi-LSTM Based Human Gait Recognition Using Video Sequences

    Javaria Amin1, Muhammad Almas Anjum2, Muhammad Sharif3, Seifedine Kadry4, Yunyoung Nam5,*, ShuiHua Wang6

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.2, pp. 2693-2709, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016871

Abstract Recognition of human gait is a difficult assignment, particularly for unobtrusive surveillance in a video and human identification from a large distance. Therefore, a method is proposed for the classification and recognition of different types of human gait. The proposed approach is consisting of two phases. In phase I, the new model is proposed named convolutional bidirectional long short-term memory (Conv-BiLSTM) to classify the video frames of human gait. In this model, features are derived through convolutional neural network (CNN) named ResNet-18 and supplied as an input to the LSTM model that provided more distinguishable temporal information. In phase II,… More >
