Congruent Feature Selection Method to Improve the Efficacy of Machine Learning-Based Classification in Medical Image Processing

    Mohd Anjum1, Naoufel Kraiem2, Hong Min3,*, Ashit Kumar Dutta4, Yousef Ibrahim Daradkeh5

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.142, No.1, pp. 357-384, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.057889 - 17 December 2024

Abstract Machine learning (ML) is increasingly applied for medical image processing with appropriate learning paradigms. These applications include analyzing images of various organs, such as the brain, lung, eye, etc., to identify specific flaws/diseases for diagnosis. The primary concern of ML applications is the precise selection of flexible image features for pattern detection and region classification. Most of the extracted image features are irrelevant and lead to an increase in computation time. Therefore, this article uses an analytical learning paradigm to design a Congruent Feature Selection Method to select the most relevant image features. This process… More >

Mural Anomaly Region Detection Algorithm Based on Hyperspectral Multiscale Residual Attention Network

    Bolin Guo1,2, Shi Qiu1,*, Pengchang Zhang1, Xingjia Tang3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.81, No.1, pp. 1809-1833, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.056706 - 15 October 2024

Abstract Mural paintings hold significant historical information and possess substantial artistic and cultural value. However, murals are inevitably damaged by natural environmental factors such as wind and sunlight, as well as by human activities. For this reason, the study of damaged areas is crucial for mural restoration. These damaged regions differ significantly from undamaged areas and can be considered abnormal targets. Traditional manual visual processing lacks strong characterization capabilities and is prone to omissions and false detections. Hyperspectral imaging can reflect the material properties more effectively than visual characterization methods. Thus, this study employs hyperspectral imaging… More >

Anatomical Region Detection Scheme Using Deep Learning Model in Video Capsule Endoscope

    S. Rajagopal1,*, T. Ramakrishnan2, S. Vairaprakash3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.34, No.3, pp. 1927-1941, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.024998 - 25 May 2022

Abstract Video capsule endoscope (VCE) is a developing methodology, which permits analysis of the full gastrointestinal (GI) tract with minimum intrusion. Although VCE permits for profound analysis, evaluating and analyzing for long hours of images is tiresome and cost-inefficient. To achieve automatic VCE-dependent GI disease detection, identifying the anatomical region shall permit for a more concentrated examination and abnormality identification in each area of the GI tract. Hence we proposed a hybrid (Long-short term memory-Visual Geometry Group network) LSTM-VGGNET based classification for the identification of the anatomical area inside the gastrointestinal tract caught by VCE images.… More >
