Abstract Myzus persicae (M. persicae) is now considered a threat to agricultural crops due to economic losses. Numerous synthetic insecticides applied every year against M. persicae, are reported to be unsafe for environment, humans, and beneficial insects. Furthermore, several species of Myzus have been found to develop resistance due to over application of these insecticides. Therefore, it is required to find some novel insecticide that would be safe for the environment as well as for humans. In the current study, two major pure constituents α-pinene and β-caryophyllene were evaluated for their insecticidal potential against M. persicae using a fumigant toxicity assay.… More >

Sentiment Drift Detection and Analysis in Real Time Twitter Data Streams

    E. Susi*, A. P. Shanthi

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.3, pp. 3231-3246, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.032104 - 21 December 2022

Abstract Handling sentiment drifts in real time twitter data streams are a challenging task while performing sentiment classifications, because of the changes that occur in the sentiments of twitter users, with respect to time. The growing volume of tweets with sentiment drifts has led to the need for devising an adaptive approach to detect and handle this drift in real time. This work proposes an adaptive learning algorithm-based framework, Twitter Sentiment Drift Analysis-Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (TSDA-BERT), which introduces a sentiment drift measure to detect drifts and a domain impact score to adaptively retrain the… More >

Basant Tomar*, Narendra Kumar, Mini Sreejeth

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.2, pp. 1495-1516, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.030635 - 03 November 2022

Abstract Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems play a critical role in the management and regulation of critical infrastructure. SCADA systems brings us closer to the real-time application world. All process and equipment control capability is typically provided by a Distributed Control System (DCS) in industries such as power stations, agricultural systems, chemical and water treatment plants. Instead of control through DCS, this paper proposes a SCADA and PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) system to control the ratio control division and the assembly line division inside the chemical plant. A specific… More >

A Hybrid Deep Learning Model for Real Time Hand Gestures Recognition

    S. Gnanapriya1,*, K. Rahimunnisa2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 1105-1119, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.032832 - 29 September 2022

Abstract The performance of Hand Gesture Recognition (HGR) depends on the hand shape. Segmentation helps in the recognition of hand gestures for more accuracy and improves the overall performance compared to other existing deep neural networks. The crucial segmentation task is extremely complicated because of the background complexity, variation in illumination etc. The proposed modified UNET and ensemble model of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) undergoes a two stage process and results in proper hand gesture recognition. The first stage is segmenting the regions of the hand and the second stage is gesture identification. The modified UNET More >
