    P. Pai Nityanand, B. Devaki, G. Bhat Pareekshith, V. S. Sampath Kumar*

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.22, No.2, pp. 655-673, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2024.050237 - 20 May 2024

Abstract The study in this manuscript aims to analyse the impact of thermal radiation on the two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic flow of upper convected Maxwell (UCM) fluid between parallel plates. The lower plate is porous and stationary, while the top plate is impermeable and moving. The equations that describe the flow are transformed into non-linear ordinary differential equations with boundary conditions by employing similarity transformations. The Homotopy Perturbation Method (HPM) is then employed to approach the obtained non-linear ordinary differential equations and get an approximate analytical solution. The analysis includes plotting the velocity profile for different Reynolds number… More >

Muhammad Abaid Ur Rehman1,*, Muhammad Asif Farooq1, Ahmed M. Hassan2

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.22, No.1, pp. 263-286, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2023.044587 - 21 March 2024

Abstract This paper proposes a mathematical modeling approach to examine the two-dimensional flow stagnates at over a heated stretchable sheet in a porous medium influenced by nonlinear thermal radiation, variable viscosity, and MHD. This study’s main purpose is to examine how thermal radiation and varying viscosity affect fluid flow motion. Additionally, we consider the convective boundary conditions and incorporate the gyrotactic microorganisms equation, which describes microorganism behavior in response to fluid flow. The partial differential equations (PDEs) that represent the conservation equations for mass, momentum, energy, and microorganisms are then converted into a system of coupled… More >

Study of Ultraviolet Radiation Effect on the Mechanical Properties of Jute and Montmorillonite Nanoclay Reinforced Polyester Nanocomposites

    S. ARULMURUGANa,*, N. VENKATESHWARANa, S. KUMARa, P. CHANDRASEKARa

    Journal of Polymer Materials, Vol.40, No.1-2, pp. 83-91, 2023, DOI:10.32381/JPM.2023.40.1-2.7

Abstract In this research, the effect of UV light on the mechanical properties of jute polymer nanocomposites was evaluated. Due to the fact that photodegradation is a surface process and is confined to the degradation of the mechanical characteristics of polyester resin, this study focuses on the resin quality. Therefore, test samples comprised of fibre-reinforced polyester nanoclay composites were fabricated different weight ratios of nanoclay. They were put through UV exposure in an Ultraviolet (UV) chamber. Tensile testing samples were made in accordance with ASTMD638 and had a minimum thickness of 3 mm. Additionally, specimens for… More >

    A. BELOUADAH1, S. BERDOUS1,3, D. BERDOUS2, M. IZERROUKEN4, N. SAIDI-AMROUN1

    Journal of Polymer Materials, Vol.39, No.1-2, pp. 1-15, 2022, DOI:10.32381/JPM.2022.39.1-2.1

Abstract In this work, neutron induced structural modifications, on the biaxially-oriented polyethylene naphthalate (BOPEN) film, were studied by X-ray diffraction technique (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR/ATR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and polarized light optical microscopy (PLOM). The irradiation with neutron was carried out, under air, at room temperature. The changes of the structure, in volume and in surface were evaluated under the impact of neutron’s flux composed by thermally neutrons and fast neutrons. The X-ray technique showed the effect of the neutron flux’s fluence on the crystallinity of the BOPEN, which was also determined through More >

Syed Tauseef Saeed1, Muhammad Bilal Riaz2,3, Dumitru Baleanu4,5,7,*, Ali Akgül6, Syed Muhammad Husnine1

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.28, No.2, pp. 547-559, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.015982 - 01 April 2021

Abstract Convective flow is a self-sustained flow with the effect of the temperature gradient. The density is non-uniform due to the variation of temperature. The effect of the magnetic flux plays a major role in convective flow. The process of heat transfer is accompanied by mass transfer process; for instance condensation, evaporation and chemical process. Due to the applications of the heat and mass transfer combined effects in different field, the main aim of this paper is to do comprehensive analysis of heat and mass transfer of MHD unsteady second-grade fluid in the presence of time… More >

    N. Vijayaa,*, Y. Hari Krishnaa , K. Kalyanib, G.V.R. Reddya

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.11, pp. 1-11, 2018, DOI:10.5098/hmt.11.19

Abstract The present paper deals with the thermo physical properties of a Casson fluid through an oscillating vertical wall embedded through porous medium under the influence transverse magnetic field, radiation, constant heat source and first order chemical reaction. The radiative heat loss is modelled by using Rosseland approximation. Similarity variables were used to convert the partial differential equations into ordinary differential equation. The transformed ordinary differential equations are solved numerically using Runge - Kutta -Fehlberg method with shooting technique. In order to get perfect perception of the flow pattern we obtain the graphs of axial velocity, More >

MELTING AND RADIATION EFFECTS ON MIXED CONVECTION BOUNDARY LAYER VISCOUS FLOW OVER A VERTICAL PLATE IN PRESENCE OF HOMOGENEOUS HIGHER ORDER CHEMICAL REACTION

    D. R. V. S. R. K. Sastry

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.11, pp. 1-7, 2018, DOI:10.5098/hmt.11.3

Abstract The present paper investigates the combined effects of melting phenomenon and viscous dissipation over a steady incompressible mixed convection boundary layer fluid flow along a vertical plate. Radiation and double dispersion are also taken into consideration. Further effect of homogeneous chemical reaction of order ’n’ is studied over the non-Darcy porous plate. Continuum equations that characterize fluid flow are transformed to a set of non linear ordinary differential equations through a suitable similarity transformation. These equations are then solved by MATLAB ’bvp4c’ iterative programming method. As a matter of accuracy and validation, available results are More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.9, pp. 1-8, 2017, DOI:10.5098/hmt.9.23

Abstract A semi - analytical investigation is performed to analyze the thermal convection flow with a radiation flux and a variable internal heat generation along an inclined plate embedded in a saturated porous medium. The flow in the porous medium is modeled with the Darcy-Brinkman law taking into account the convective term, while the temperature field is obtained from the energy equation. These governing equations with the boundary conditions are first cast into a dimensionless form by using a unique similarity transformation and the resulting coupled differential equations are then solved numerically by a computational program More >

The plate oscillate harmonically in its own plane and the temperature raised linearly with respect to time. Numerical calculations are carried out for different values of dimensionless parameters and an analysis of the results shown graphically and in table form. It is found that velocity and microrotation influenced appreciatively with parameters like radiation, magnetic, chemical reaction and coupling numbers. It is also noted that microrotation highly influenced by the magnetic More >
