    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.93, No.9, pp. 2209-2225, 2024, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2024.055046 - 30 September 2024

Abstract The high isoflavones content of soybeans is an important breeding goal due to the demonstrated benefits of isoflavones to human health and their association with plant resistance. In this study, quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping for soybean isoflavone aglycones, including daidzin, glycerin, and genistin, and total isoflavones content was performed in a population of 178 F2:6 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) which was generated from a cross between varieties Jinong 17 and Jinong 18. A genetic linkage map covering 1248 cM was constructed using the simple sequence repeat (SSR) molecular markers. The results revealed 22 isoflavone-related QTLs,… More >

Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL) Mapping and Marker Analysis of Fatty Acids in Peanut

Xiao Han, Songnan Yang, Xueying Li, Qiulin Wu, Yongyi Xing, Jun Zhang*, Fenglou Ling*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.9, pp. 2577-2589, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2023.029440 - 28 July 2023

Abstract Peanut, with high oil content, has been a major oil and food crop globally. The compositions of the fatty acids are the common factors in determining the oil quality. In the present study, an F2 segregated population with 140 individuals derived from the cross of Weihua8 (a cultivar) and 12L49 (a line with high oleic acid concentration) was used to construct a genetic map and conduct QTL mapping analysis. A total of 103 polymorphic SSR primers were utilized for genotyping the RILs and finally generating the SSR loci. Within the 103 SSR loci, a genetic… More >

Abstract Grain size traits are critical agronomic traits which directly determine grain yield, but the genetic bases of these traits are still not well understood. In this study, a total of 154 chromosome segment substitution lines (CSSLs) population derived from a cross between a japonica variety Koshihikari and an indica variety Nona Bokra was used to investigate grain length (GL), grain width (GW), length-width ratio (LWR), grain perimeter (GP), grain area (GA), and thousand grain weight (TGW) under four environments. QTL mapping analysis of six grain size traits was performed by QTL IciMapping 4.2 with an inclusive… More >

Quantitative trait loci associated with water deficit tolerance in Arabidopsis thaliana (L.) Heynh.

    Gutiérrez-Díez A1, GE Salinas-García1, L Iracheta-Donjuan2, JA Torres-Castillo1, N Mayek-Pérez3

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.82, pp. 203-208, 2013, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2013.82.203

Abstract Gene and quantitative trait loci (QTLs) localization in a model species allow to know their organization in the genome, and the possibility for the isolation and cloning of genes with agronomic importance. Seventy-three recombinant inbred lines (RILs) derived from the cross of Arabidopsis thaliana (L.) Heynh. ecotypes Columbia (Col) x Landsberg erecta (Ler) were grown in a greenhouse under contrasting soil moisture conditions (irrigated and water deficits). During their growth, some phenological (days to flowering) and plant growth traits (plant height, and number of nodes and leaves per plant) were measured. Significant differences for plant height More >
