    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.18, No.6, pp. 785-803, 2024, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2024.051393 - 20 September 2024

Abstract Delamination is a prevalent type of damage in composite laminate structures. Its accumulation degrades structural performance and threatens the safety and integrity of aircraft. This study presents a method for the quantitative identification of delamination identification in composite materials, leveraging distributed optical fiber sensors and a model updating approach. Initially, a numerical analysis is performed to establish a parameterized finite element model of the composite plate. Then, this model subsequently generates a database of strain responses corresponding to damage of varying sizes and locations. The radial basis function neural network surrogate model is then constructed More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.5, pp. 1195-1207, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.045870 - 30 April 2024

Abstract The fractured-vuggy carbonate oil resources in the western basin of China are extremely rich. The connectivity of carbonate reservoirs is complex, and there is still a lack of clear understanding of the development and topological structure of the pore space in fractured-vuggy reservoirs. Thus, effective prediction of fractured-vuggy reservoirs is difficult. In view of this, this work employs adaptive point cloud technology to reproduce the shape and capture the characteristics of a fractured-vuggy reservoir. To identify the complex connectivity among pores, fractures, and vugs, a simplified one-dimensional connectivity model is established by using the meshless More >

Abstract Current methods for the analysis of channeling-path phenomena in reservoirs cannot account for the influence of time and space on the actual seepage behavior. In the present study, this problem is addressed considering actual production data and dynamic characteristic parameters quantitatively determined in the near wellbore area by fitting the water-cut curve of the well. Starting from the dynamic relationship between injection and production data, the average permeability is determined and used to obtain a real-time quantitative characterization of the seepage behavior of the channeling-path in the far wellbore area. For the considered case study More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.84, No.3, pp. 205-228, 2012, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2012.084.205

Abstract Different from single crack identification method, the number of cracks should be firstly identified, and then the location and depth of each crack can be predicted for multiple cracks identification technology. This paper presents a multiple crack identification algorithm for rotor using wavelet finite element method. Firstly, the changes in natural frequency of a structure with various crack locations and depths are accurately obtained by means of wavelet finite element method; and then the damage coefficient method is used to determine the number and region of cracks. Finally, by finding the points of intersection of More >
