Optimization Model Proposal for Traffic Differentiation in Wireless Sensor Networks

Adisa Hasković Džubur*, Samir Čaušević, Belma Memić, Muhamed Begović, Elma Avdagić-Golub, Alem Čolaković

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.81, No.1, pp. 1059-1084, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.055386 - 15 October 2024

Abstract Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are characterized by heterogeneous traffic types (audio, video, data) and diverse application traffic requirements. This paper introduces three traffic classes following the defined model of heterogeneous traffic differentiation in WSNs. The requirements for each class regarding sensitivity to QoS (Quality of Service) parameters, such as loss, delay, and jitter, are described. These classes encompass real-time and delay-tolerant traffic. Given that QoS evaluation is a multi-criteria decision-making problem, we employed the AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) method for multi-criteria optimization. As a result of this approach, we derived weight values for different traffic… More >

Efficient Energy and Delay Reduction Model for Wireless Sensor Networks

    Arslan Iftikhar1, M. A. Elmagzoub2, Ansar Munir1,*, Hamad Abosaq Al Salem2, Mahmood ul Hassan3, Jarallah Alqahtani2, Asadullah Shaikh2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 1153-1168, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.030802 - 20 January 2023

Abstract In every network, delay and energy are crucial for communication and network life. In wireless sensor networks, many tiny nodes create networks with high energy consumption and compute routes for better communication. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is a very complex scenario to compute minimal delay with data aggregation and energy efficiency. In this research, we compute minimal delay and energy efficiency for improving the quality of service of any WSN. The proposed work is based on energy and distance parameters as taken dependent variables with data aggregation. Data aggregation performs on different models, namely Hybrid-Low… More >

QoS in FANET Business and Swarm Data

Jesús Hamilton Ortiz1, Carlos Andrés Tavera Romero2,*, Bazil Taha Ahmed3, Osamah Ibrahim Khalaf4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.1, pp. 1877-1899, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.023796 - 24 February 2022

Abstract This article shows the quality of services in a wireless swarm of drones that form an ad hoc network between them Fly Ad Hoc Networks (FANET). Each drone has the ability to send and receive information (like a router); and can behave as a hierarchical node whit the intregration of three protocols: Multiprotocol Label Switch (MPLS), Fast Hierarchical AD Hoc Mobile (FHAM) and Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), in conclusion MPLS + FHAM + IPv6. The metrics analyzed in the FANET are: delay, jitter, throughput, lost and sent packets/received. Testing process was carried out with… More >

Intelligent Model for Predicting the Quality of Services Violation

    Muhammad Adnan Khan1,2, Asma Kanwal3, Sagheer Abbas3, Faheem Khan4, T. Whangbo4,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.2, pp. 3607-3619, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.023480 - 07 December 2021

Abstract Cloud computing is providing IT services to its customer based on Service level agreements (SLAs). It is important for cloud service providers to provide reliable Quality of service (QoS) and to maintain SLAs accountability. Cloud service providers need to predict possible service violations before the emergence of an issue to perform remedial actions for it. Cloud users’ major concerns; the factors for service reliability are based on response time, accessibility, availability, and speed. In this paper, we, therefore, experiment with the parallel mutant-Particle swarm optimization (PSO) for the detection and predictions of QoS violations in More >

Centralized QoS Routing Model for Delay/Loss Sensitive Flows at the SDN-IoT Infrastructure

    Mykola Beshley1, Natalia Kryvinska2,*, Halyna Beshley1, Mykhailo Medvetskyi1, Leonard Barolli3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.3, pp. 3727-3748, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.018625 - 24 August 2021

Abstract The rapidly increasing number of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and Quality of Service (QoS) requirements have made the provisioning of network solutions to meet this demand a major research topic. Providing fast and reliable routing paths based on the QoS requirements of IoT devices is very important task for Industry 4.0. The software-defined network is one of the most current interesting research developments, offering an efficient and effective solution for centralized control and network intelligence. A new SDN-IoT paradigm has been proposed to improve network QoS, taking advantage of SDN architecture in IoT networks.… More >

Optimal Resource Allocation and Quality of Service Prediction in Cloud

    Priya Baldoss1,2,*, Gnanasekaran Thangavel3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.1, pp. 253-265, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.013695 - 12 January 2021

Abstract In the present scenario, cloud computing service provides on-request access to a collection of resources available in remote system that can be shared by numerous clients. Resources are in self-administration; consequently, clients can adjust their usage according to their requirements. Resource usage is estimated and clients can pay according to their utilization. In literature, the existing method describes the usage of various hardware assets. Quality of Service (QoS) needs to be considered for ascertaining the schedule and the access of resources. Adhering with the security arrangement, any additional code is forbidden to ensure the usage… More >
