HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER ANALYSIS ON MHD MIXED CONVECTION FLOW OF RADIATIVE CHEMICALLY HEAT GENERATING FLUID WITH VISCOUS DISSIPATION AND THERMO-DIFFUSION EFFECT

    Sanjib Senguptaa,*, Amrit Karmakarb

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.11, pp. 1-13, 2018, DOI:10.5098/hmt.11.30

Abstract In this paper an analysis on heat and mass transfer is made to study magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) mixed convective flow of an incompressible viscous fluid flowing past an inclined plate. A magnetic field of uniform strength is applied to the plate to influence the flow. Due to weak voltage differences caused by the very low polarization charges, the influence of electric field is considered to be neglected. Again large temperature gradient ensures cross diffusion effect like thermo-diffusion (Soret) in the field. The governed set of non-linear partial differential equations is solved by developing a multi-parameter asymptotic perturbation scheme. The influence of… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.11, pp. 1-10, 2018, DOI:10.5098/hmt.11.13

Abstract Present study concerns with the numerical investigation of the MHD free convection and heat transfer fluid flow through a semi-infinite vertical porous plate with the effects of chemical reaction. A boundary layer approximation is premeditated to develop a flow model representing time dependent momentum, energy and concentration equations. The governing model equations are governed as a form of coupled nonlinear dimensionless system of partial differential equations (PDEs) by the as usual mathematical procedure of mathematical transformation and which model equations are solved by using explicit finite difference method (EFDM). Then the numerical results have been calculated by Compaq Visual FORTRAN… More >

    D. R. V. S. R. K. Sastry

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.11, pp. 1-7, 2018, DOI:10.5098/hmt.11.3

Abstract The present paper investigates the combined effects of melting phenomenon and viscous dissipation over a steady incompressible mixed convection boundary layer fluid flow along a vertical plate. Radiation and double dispersion are also taken into consideration. Further effect of homogeneous chemical reaction of order ’n’ is studied over the non-Darcy porous plate. Continuum equations that characterize fluid flow are transformed to a set of non linear ordinary differential equations through a suitable similarity transformation. These equations are then solved by MATLAB ’bvp4c’ iterative programming method. As a matter of accuracy and validation, available results are compared with the present study… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.12, pp. 1-10, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.12.12

Abstract A numerical investigation is performed to analyze the transient laminar free convection over an isothermal inclined plate embedded in a saturated porous medium with the viscous dissipation effects. The flow in the porous medium is modeled with the Darcy-Brinkman- Forchheimer model, taking into account the convective term. The dimensionless nonlinear partial differential equations are solved numerically using an explicit finite difference method. The effects of different parameters: (1 ≤ Re ≤ 10 ; 10−2 ≤ Da ≤ 10 ; 0 ≤ Gr ≤ 50 ; 0 ≤ F r ≤ 3 ; 0 ≤ Ec ≤ 1 ; 0 ≤… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.13, pp. 1-13, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.13.15

Abstract In this investigation, our objective is to study the effect of non-uniform slot suction or injection into a steady mixed convective MHD boundary layer flow over a vertical wedge embedded in a porous medium in the presence of chemical reaction. The wall of the wedge is embedded in a uniform porous medium in order to allow possible fluid wall suction or injection. The surface of the wedge is maintained at a variable wall temperature and concentration. The fluid is assumed to be viscous, incompressible and electrically conducting; and the magnetic field is applied transversally in the direction of the flow.… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.14, pp. 1-8, 2020, DOI:10.5098/hmt.14.12

Abstract Present investigation aims at analyzing the properties of heat and transport phenomena of thermal energy and species mass in a non-Darcy Casson fluid flow induced by a erected porous elongated surface considering the effect of non-linear radioactive heat, thermophorosis, first order chemical reaction, Newtonian heating, thermo diffusion, permeability and slip conditions. Influence of critical parameters are widely studied. By inducing the variables of similarity the basic boundary layer equations are transmuted into dimensionless equations and are resolved arithmetically using Runge – Kutta – Fehlberg shooting techniques method. The dominance of critical parameters against velocity, temperature, and concentration are explicated through… More >

EFFECTS OF VARIABLE VISCOSITY ON HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER BY MHD MIXED CONVECTION FLOW ALONG A VERTICAL CYLINDER EMBEDDED IN A NON-DARCY POROUS MEDIUM

    Saddam Atteyia Mohammad*

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.14, pp. 1-10, 2020, DOI:10.5098/hmt.14.7

Abstract An analysis was performed to study the effects of variable viscosity on steady, laminar, hydromagnetic simultaneous heat and mass transfer by mixed convection flow along a vertical cylinder embedded in a non-Darcy porous medium. The analysis was performed for the case of power-law variations of both the surface temperature and concentration. The viscosity of the fluid is assumed to be an inverse linear function of temperature. Certain transformations were employed to transform the governing differential equations to non-similar form. The transformed equations were solved numerically by finite difference method. The entire regime of mixed convection was studied. From this study… More >

Yu Chena , Shen Dua, Dong Lia, Yang Gaob, Ya-Ling Hea,*

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.15, pp. 1-13, 2020, DOI:10.5098/hmt.15.19

Abstract Non-uniform heating and vapor blockage deteriorate the effectiveness of transpiration cooling, and an optimization method by using porous media with a gradually-changed structure is proposed. The numerical tool based on a two-phase mixture model and local thermal non-equilibrium assumption considering variable properties of coolant is applied. Porous media with linearly-changed porosity or particle diameter is analyzed. The transient results presented that the structure of gradually-changed porosity (or particle diameter) with appropriate parameters can delay the heat transfer deterioration. And it is confirmed that the present theoretical model is an effective tool for optimization design of transpiration cooling system. More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.17, pp. 1-6, 2021, DOI:10.5098/hmt.17.7

Abstract In this work, a numerical simulation of steady and laminar free convection flow over a heated vertical flat plate embedded in a saturated porous medium by a Newtonian fluid is presented and analyzed. The Brinkman-Forchheimer extension of Darcy’s law has been adopted to describe the movement of fluid within the porous matrix. A numerical solution of the governing continuity, momentum and energy equations was made with the appropriate boundary conditions using ANSYS/FLUENT software based on finite volume method. The found results are graphically presented and physically discussed for main controling parameters. Subsequently, we compared our CFD calculation by the results… More >
