Multiscale Modeling and Application of Strain-Dependent Piezoresistive Behavior in Porous MWCNT/Polymer Nanocomposites

    Zefu Li1, Weidong Yang1,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.29, No.1, pp. 1-1, 2024, DOI:10.32604/icces.2024.011671

Abstract For composite materials incorporating porous structures with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), the effects of pores and MWCNT agglomeration significantly impact electrical conductivity. Theoretical modeling of the piezoresistive behavior is crucial for understanding the electromechanical response of porous MWCNT/polymer nanocomposites. Currently, there is limited theoretical modeling that considers the combined effects of porosity and MWCNT agglomeration on the electrical conductivity and piezoresistive performance of porous MWCNT/polymer composites. Addressing this gap, this paper presents a multiscale modeling approach for the strain-dependent piezoresistive behavior of porous MWCNT/polymer nanocomposites. The model considers the influence of porosity and MWCNT agglomeration, More >

Removal of Dye Using Lignin-Based Biochar/Poly(ester amide urethane) Nanocomposites from Contaminated Wastewater

    Annesha Kar1, Niranjan Karak1,2,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.12, No.9, pp. 1507-1540, 2024, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2024.052220 - 25 September 2024

Abstract The pursuit of incorporating eco-friendly reinforcing agents in polymer composites has accentuated the exploration of various natural biomass-derived materials. The burgeoning environmental crisis spurred by the discharge of synthetic dyes into wastewater has catalyzed the search for effective and sustainable treatment technologies. Among the various sorbent materials explored, biochar, being renewable, has gained prominence due to its excellent adsorption properties and environmental sustainability. It has also emerged as a focal point for its potential to replace other conventional reinforcing agents, viz., fumed silica, aluminum oxide, treated clays, etc. This study introduces a novel class of… More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract In modern physics and fabrication technology, simulation of projectile and target collision is vital to improve design in some critical applications, like; bulletproofing and medical applications. Graphene, the most prominent member of two dimensional materials presents ultrahigh tensile strength and stiffness. Moreover, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is one of the most important elastomeric materials with a high extensive application area, ranging from medical, fabric, and interface material. In this work we considered graphene/PDMS structures to explore the bullet resistance of resulting nanocomposites. To this aim, extensive molecular dynamic simulations were carried out to identify the penetration of… More >
