    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.2, pp. 3455-3470, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.033352

Abstract The purpose of these investigations is to find the numerical outcomes of the fractional kind of biological system based on Leptospirosis by exploiting the strength of artificial neural networks aided by scale conjugate gradient, called ANNs-SCG. The fractional derivatives have been applied to get more reliable performances of the system. The mathematical form of the biological Leptospirosis system is divided into five categories, and the numerical performances of each model class will be provided by using the ANNs-SCG. The exactness of the ANNs-SCG is performed using the comparison of the reference and obtained results. The reference solutions have been obtained… More >

Analysis of the Performances of a New Type of Alumina Nanocomposite Structural Material Designed for the Thermal Insulation of High-Rise Buildings

    Yue Yu*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.3, pp. 697-709, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.021482

Abstract The sol-gel method is used to prepare a new nano-alumina aerogel structure and the thermal properties of this nanomaterial are investigated comprehensively using electron microscope scanning, thermal analysis, X-ray and infrared spectrometer analysis methods. It is found that the composite aerogel alumina material has a multi-level porous nano-network structure. When employed for the thermal insulation of high-rise buildings, the alumina nanocomposite aerogel material can lead to effective energy savings in winter. However, it has almost no energy-saving effect on buildings where energy is consumed for cooling in summer. More >

    Yingying Zhang1,2,3, Jinhai Liu1,2,3, Zhuosheng Yan4, Gangshun Rao5, Xiangru Tang1,2,3,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.1, pp. 121-130, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.022697

Abstract Irrigation with desalinated seawater is an effective way to use ocean resources and save freshwater resources. However, seawater irrigation would cause yield loss of rice. In order to explore the effects of ultrasonic seed treatment on rice performances under seawater irrigation, the present study was conducted with three irrigation treatments (fresh water (SW0), ten times diluted seawater (SW1%, 0.34% salinity), and five times diluted seawater (SW2%, 0.68% salinity)) and two seed treatments (ultrasonic treated seeds (UT) and untreated seeds (CK)). Compared with SW0 + CK treatment, SW1 + CK and SW2 + CK treatments significantly decreased grain yield by 56.19%… More >

Analysis of the Performances and Optimization of Polyurethane Concrete with a Large Percentage of Fly Ash

    Tingting Huo1, Jiaquan Xue2,*, Zhi’an Fu3

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.2, pp. 437-450, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.020696

Abstract The properties of polyurethane concrete containing a large amount of fly ash are investigated, and accordingly, a model is introduced to account for the influence of fly ash fineness, water ratio, and loss of ignition (LOI) on its mechanical performances. This research shows that, after optimization, the concrete has a compressive strength of 20.8 MPa, a flexural strength of 3.4 MPa, and a compressive modulus of elasticity of 19.2 GPa. The main factor influencing 28 and 90 d compressive strength is fly ash content, water-binder ratio, and early strength agent content. More >

Influence of Urea Uneven Injection on the Performances of a Diesel Engine

Chang Huang, Shuzhan Bai, Guoxiang Li*, Ke Sun*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.1, pp. 83-93, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.021662

Abstract The influence of heterogeneous flow injection of urea at different velocities and temperatures on NOx conversion efficiency, ammonia storage and ammonia leakage is investigated experimentally. A diesel engine employing a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology is considered. It is found that for a fixed injection velocity, the degree of ammonia leakage changes depending on the temperature. The higher the temperature, the faster the catalytic reduction reaction and the smaller the degree of ammonia leakage. The temperature has a great influence on the catalytic reduction reaction rate. At an injection velocity of 10000/h, the average reaction rate at 420 C is… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 5575-5587, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.030902

Abstract This paper proposed integrating the communication system on the garment, which can be utilized to detect breast cancer at an early stage by using an ultra-wideband (UWB) wearable antenna. Breast cancer is an abnormal cell that is located in the breast tissue. Early detection of breast cancer plays an important role, and it helps in the long term for all women. The proposed UWB wearable antenna successfully operates at 3.1–10.6 GHz under an acceptable reflection coefficient of −10 dB. The fabricated wearable antenna was made from Shieldit Super and felt both conductive and nonconductive wearable materials. Few measurement studies of… More >

Experimental Evaluation of Flexural Behavior of Stress Laminated Timber Decks

    Qingguo Ben1, Congcong Zhang2, Benkai Shi2, Huifeng Yang2,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.12, pp. 3599-3610, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.022344

Abstract Stress laminated timber (SLT) deck is assembled using timber (lumber or glulam) components placed side by side and stressed together, which has the advantages of easy prefabrication and good cost performance. This work presented an experimental investigation of bending tests performed on SLT slabs. Several parameters, including prestress levels, distance of pre-stressing bars, and the existence of self-tapping screw (STS) reinforcement, were taken into consideration. To reinforce the compressive property of timber perpendicular to the grain, the STSs were placed under the anchor plate of the pre-stressed bars. The experimental results were analyzed and discussed in terms of failure modes,… More > Graphic Abstract

Optimization of the Thermoelectric Performances of CoSbS Semiconductors Using the High-Pressure Fabrication Method

    Fang Liu1, Yonghui You2, Min Wang1,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.6, pp. 1827-1839, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.019132

Abstract CoSbS-based compounds are good thermoelectric materials with low thermal conductivity and good electrical properties, which can effectively be used to improve the efficiency of many thermoelectric conversion processes. In order to improve their properties even more, in this study a series of experiments have been conducted in the frame of the traditional solid-phase synthesis and high-pressure method. It is shown that if the mass fluctuation and stress fluctuation in the considered CoSbS system increase, the scattering probability of phonons is enhanced and the lattice thermal conductivity of the material is reduced. Adding a small amount of Se can simultaneously optimize… More >

Impact of Data Quality on Question Answering System Performances

    Rachid Karra*, Abdelali Lasfar

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.1, pp. 335-349, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.026695

Abstract In contrast with the research of new models, little attention has been paid to the impact of low or high-quality data feeding a dialogue system. The present paper makes the first attempt to fill this gap by extending our previous work on question-answering (QA) systems by investigating the effect of misspelling on QA agents and how context changes can enhance the responses. Instead of using large language models trained on huge datasets, we propose a method that enhances the model's score by modifying only the quality and structure of the data feed to the model. It is important to identify… More >
