Dispatchable Capability of Aggregated Electric Vehicle Charging in Distribution Systems

    Shiqian Wang1, Bo Liu1, Yuanpeng Hua1, Qiuyan Li1, Binhua Tang2,*, Jianshu Zhou2, Yue Xiang2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.122, No.1, pp. 129-152, 2025, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.054867 - 27 December 2024

Abstract This paper introduces a method for modeling the entire aggregated electric vehicle (EV) charging process and analyzing its dispatchable capabilities. The methodology involves developing a model for aggregated EV charging at the charging station level, estimating its physical dispatchable capability, determining its economic dispatchable capability under economic incentives, modeling its participation in the grid, and investigating the effects of different scenarios and EV penetration on the aggregated load dispatch and dispatchable capability. The results indicate that using economic dispatchable capability reduces charging prices by 9.7% compared to physical dispatchable capability and 9.3% compared to disorderly More >

    Xuehui Jing1, Junchen Guo1, Zhiyun Wang2,*

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.22, No.3, pp. 919-937, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2024.049689 - 11 July 2024

Abstract In this paper, the combustion conditions in the boiler furnace of a 660 MW tangential fired pulverized coal boiler are numerically simulated at 15% and 20% rated loads, to study the flexibility of coal-fired power units on ultra-low load operation. The numerical results show that the boiler can operate safely at 15% and 20% ultra-low loads, and the combustion condition in the furnace is better at 20% load, and the tangent circles formed by each characteristic section in the furnace are better, and when the boiler load is decreased to 15%, the tangent circles in… More >

Peak Shaving Strategy of Concentrating Solar Power Generation Based on Multi-Time-Scale and Considering Demand Response

Lei Fang*, Haiying Dong, Xiaofei Zhen, Shuaibing Li

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.3, pp. 661-679, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.029823 - 27 February 2024

Abstract According to the multi-time-scale characteristics of power generation and demand-side response (DR) resources, as well as the improvement of prediction accuracy along with the approaching operating point, a rolling peak shaving optimization model consisting of three different time scales has been proposed. The proposed peak shaving optimization model considers not only the generation resources of two different response speeds but also the two different DR resources and determines each unit combination, generation power, and demand response strategy on different time scales so as to participate in the peaking of the power system by taking full… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.2, pp. 3317-3337, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.035690 - 31 March 2023

Abstract In this paper, the installation of energy storage systems (EES) and their role in grid peak load shaving in two echelons, their distribution and generation are investigated. First, the optimal placement and capacity of the energy storage is taken into consideration, then, the charge-discharge strategy for this equipment is determined. Here, Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) are used to calculate the minimum and maximum load in the network with the presence of energy storage systems. The energy storage systems were utilized in a distribution system with the aid of a peak load More >
