    Oncology Research, Vol.24, No.6, pp. 477-485, 2016, DOI:10.3727/096504016X14685034103716

Abstract Collagen triple helix repeat containing-1 (CTHRC1), a secreted glycoprotein, is frequently upregulated in human cancers. However, the functional role of CTHRC1 in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) remains unclear. Thus, the aim of this study was to explore the role of CTHRC1 in RCC. Our results demonstrated that CTHRC1 was upregulated in RCC tissues and cell lines. Knockdown of CTHRC1 significantly inhibits the proliferation in RCCs. Furthermore, knockdown of CTHRC1 significantly inhibited the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) process in RCCs, as well as suppressed RCC cell migration and invasion. Mechanistically, knockdown of CTHRC1 inhibited the expression of More >

Abstract Increasing studies have suggested that microRNAs (miRNAs) are involved in the development of gliomas. MicroRNA-216a has been reported to be a tumor-associated miRNA in many types of cancer, either as an oncogene or as a tumor suppressor. However, little is known about the function of miR-216a in gliomas. The present study was designed to explore the potential role of miR-216a in gliomas. We found that miR-216a was significantly decreased in glioma tissues and cell lines. Overexpression of miR-216a significantly suppressed the proliferation, migration, and invasion of glioma cells. Abstract Collagen triple helix repeat containing 1 (CTHRC1), an extracellular matrix-related protein, has been found to be upregulated in many solid tumors and contributes to tumorigenesis. We found that CTHRC1 is overexpressed in glioblastoma tissues and cells. By using the technique of RNA interference, the expression of CTHRC1 in the human glioblastoma U-87MG cell line was downregulated, and the proliferation and migration of U-87MG cells were examined. The results showed that the knockdown of CTHRC1 exerts inhibitory effects on the proliferation and migration ability of U-87MG cells. Knockdown of CTHRC1 expression in U-87MG cells resulted in More >

Abstract Garden pea productivity and qualities are hampered in zinc (Zn), boron (B), and molybdenum (Mo) deficient soil. Thus, the combination of micronutrients (i.e., Zn, B, and Mo) and rhizobium is necessary to increase the productivity and quality of garden peas, since this management for garden peas is neglected in Bangladesh. Therefore, the present study was made to assess the effectiveness of rhizobium inoculant singly or in combination with the micronutrients (i.e., Zn, B, and Mo) on growth, yield, nutrient uptake, and quality of garden peas. Treatments were: T = Control, T = Rhizobium inoculation at 50… More >

Abstract In today’s rapidly evolving landscape of communication technologies, ensuring the secure delivery of sensitive data has become an essential priority. To overcome these difficulties, different steganography and data encryption methods have been proposed by researchers to secure communications. Most of the proposed steganography techniques achieve higher embedding capacities without compromising visual imperceptibility using LSB substitution. In this work, we have an approach that utilizes a combination of Most Significant Bit (MSB) matching and Least Significant Bit (LSB) substitution. The proposed algorithm divides confidential messages into pairs of bits and connects them with the MSBs of… More >

Density Clustering Algorithm Based on KD-Tree and Voting Rules

Hui Du, Zhiyuan Hu*, Depeng Lu, Jingrui Liu

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.79, No.2, pp. 3239-3259, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.046314

Abstract Traditional clustering algorithms often struggle to produce satisfactory results when dealing with datasets with uneven density. Additionally, they incur substantial computational costs when applied to high-dimensional data due to calculating similarity matrices. To alleviate these issues, we employ the KD-Tree to partition the dataset and compute the K-nearest neighbors (KNN) density for each point, thereby avoiding the computation of similarity matrices. Moreover, we apply the rules of voting elections, treating each data point as a voter and casting a vote for the point with the highest density among its KNN. By utilizing the vote counts More >
