    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.3, pp. 5229-5250, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.032469 - 28 December 2022

Abstract Renewable energy sources are gaining popularity, particularly photovoltaic energy as a clean energy source. This is evident in the advancement of scientific research aimed at improving solar cell performance. Due to the non-linear nature of the photovoltaic cell, modeling solar cells and extracting their parameters is one of the most important challenges in this discipline. As a result, the use of optimization algorithms to solve this problem is expanding and evolving at a rapid rate. In this paper, a weIghted meaN oF vectOrs algorithm (INFO) that calculates the weighted mean for a set of vectors… More >

Khakoo Mal1,2,*, Tayab Din Memon1,3, Imtiaz Hussain Kalwar4, Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.2, pp. 3351-3370, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.032940 - 31 October 2022

Abstract It is necessary to know the status of adhesion conditions between wheel and rail for efficient accelerating and decelerating of railroad vehicle. The proper estimation of adhesion conditions and their real-time implementation is considered a challenge for scholars. In this paper, the development of simulation model of extended Kalman filter (EKF) in MATLAB/Simulink is presented to estimate various railway wheelset parameters in different contact conditions of track. Due to concurrent in nature, the Xilinx® System-on-Chip Zynq Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) device is chosen to check the onboard estimation of wheel-rail interaction parameters by using the… More >

A Mixture Model Parameters Estimation Algorithm for Inter-Contact Times in Internet of Vehicles

    Cheng Gong1,2, Xinzhu Yang1, Wei Huangfu3,4,*, Qinghua Lu5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.2, pp. 2445-2457, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016713 - 21 July 2021

Abstract Communication opportunities among vehicles are important for data transmission over the Internet of Vehicles (IoV). Mixture models are appropriate to describe complex spatial-temporal data. By calculating the expectation of hidden variables in vehicle communication, Expectation Maximization (EM) algorithm solves the maximum likelihood estimation of parameters, and then obtains the mixture model of vehicle communication opportunities. However, the EM algorithm requires multiple iterations and each iteration needs to process all the data. Thus its computational complexity is high. A parameter estimation algorithm with low computational complexity based on Bin Count (BC) and Differential Evolution (DE) (PEBCDE)… More >

Observability Analysis in Parameters Estimation of an Uncooperative Space Target

    Xianghao Hou1, *, Gang Qiao1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.122, No.1, pp. 175-205, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.08452 - 01 January 2020

Abstract To study the parameter estimating effects of a free-floating tumbling space target, the extended Kalman filter (EKF) scheme is utilized with different high-nonlinear translational and rotational coupled kinematic & dynamic models on the LIDAR measurements. Applying the aforementioned models and measurements results in the situation where one single state can be estimated differently with varying accuracies since the EKFs based on different models have different observabilities. In the proposed EKFs, the traditional quaternions based kinematics and dynamics and the dual vector quaternions (DVQ) based kinematics and dynamics are used for the modeling of the relative… More >
