    BIOCELL, Vol.48, No.5, pp. 745-758, 2024, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2024.049140 - 06 May 2024

Abstract Background: Acute pancreatitis (AP), known for its rapid onset and significant incidence and mortality rates, presents a clinical challenge due to the limited availability of effective treatments and preventive measures. Anemarsaponin B (ASB) has emerged as a potential therapeutic agent, demonstrating capabilities in reducing immune inflammation, positioning it as a promising candidate for AP treatment. Methods: We investigated the effects of ASB on AP in mice, induced by caerulein and lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Peripheral blood samples were collected 24 h post-induction with caerulein to assess of key biomarkers including lipase, amylase, TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, SOD, and… More >

A Deep Learning Framework for Mass-Forming Chronic Pancreatitis and Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma Classification Based on Magnetic Resonance Imaging

    Luda Chen1, Kuangzhu Bao2, Ying Chen2, Jingang Hao2,*, Jianfeng He1,3,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.79, No.1, pp. 409-427, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.048507 - 25 April 2024

Abstract Pancreatic diseases, including mass-forming chronic pancreatitis (MFCP) and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), present with similar imaging features, leading to diagnostic complexities. Deep Learning (DL) methods have been shown to perform well on diagnostic tasks. Existing DL pancreatic lesion diagnosis studies based on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) utilize the prior information to guide models to focus on the lesion region. However, over-reliance on prior information may ignore the background information that is helpful for diagnosis. This study verifies the diagnostic significance of the background information using a clinical dataset. Consequently, the Prior Difference Guidance Network (PDGNet)… More >

Pseudogene HMGN2P46 as a microRNA sponge to regulate HMGN2 expression via competing for miR-590-3p in severe acute pancreatitis

    HONGQIANG ZHAO1,2, QI LIU3, HAORUN LIU3, WEIMIN LI3,*, JIANGYANG LU1,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.5, pp. 1299-1308, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.017217 - 06 January 2022

Abstract HMGN2 have functions in inflammatory response. However, the role of HMGN2 in severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) remains unclear. Here, our study was to discuss the role and regulatory mechanism ofHMGN2 in SAP. In this study, the SAP cell model of AR42J was used to study the function and mechanism of HMGN2 in SAP. The protein expression in cells and serums were examined by western blot and ELISA assay. qPCR was used to test the transcriptional RNA level. Cell viability were examined by MTT assay. Luciferase assay was used to evaluate the interaction between gene and… More >

Upregulated IRF9 promotes cell apoptosis of hyperlipidemia acute pancreatitis with heart injury by regulating SIRT1

    BIOCELL, Vol.45, No.1, pp. 129-138, 2021, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2021.013275 - 26 January 2021

Abstract Hyperlipidemia acute pancreatitis (HLAP) is a significant cause of AP, characterized by recurrent attacks, more complications and high incidence and mortality. HLAP is often accompanied by single or multiple organ damage. Negative regulation of interferon-regulatory factor 9 (IRF9) on sirtuin-1 (SIRT1) contributes to a range of diseases. However, the function of IRF9 and SIRT1, and the relationship of the two in HLAP with heart injury remain to be illustrated so far. Animal models of HLAP were set up by feeding with high-fat chow and subsequently injecting 20% L-arginine intraperitoneally. The degree of pancreas and heart… More >
