Numerical Simulation-Based Analysis of the Impact of Overloading on Segmentally Assembled Bridges

    Donghui Ma1, Wenqi Wu2, Yuan Li1, Lun Zhao1, Yingchun Cai2,*, Pan Guo2,*, Shaolin Yang2

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.18, No.5, pp. 663-681, 2024, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2024.052677

Abstract Segmentally assembled bridges are increasingly finding engineering applications in recent years due to their unique advantages, especially as urban viaducts. Vehicle loads are one of the most important variable loads acting on bridge structures. Accordingly, the influence of overloaded vehicles on existing assembled bridge structures is an urgent concern at present. This paper establishes the finite element model of the segmentally assembled bridge based on ABAQUS software and analyzes the influence of vehicle overload on an assembled girder bridge structure. First, a finite element model corresponding to the target bridge is established based on ABAQUS… More >

Convolutional Neural Network for Overcrowded Public Transportation Pickup Truck Detection

    Jakkrit Suttanuruk1, Sajjakaj Jomnonkwao1,*, Vatanavong Ratanavaraha1, Sarunya Kanjanawattana2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.3, pp. 5573-5588, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.033900

Abstract Thailand has been on the World Health Organization (WHO)’s notorious deadliest road list for several years, currently ranking eighth on the list. Among all types of road fatalities, pickup trucks converted into vehicles for public transportation are found to be the most problematic due to their high occupancy and minimal passenger safety measures, such as safety belts. Passenger overloading is illegal, but it is often overlooked. The country often uses police checkpoints to enforce traffic laws. However, there are few or no highway patrols to apprehend offending drivers. Therefore, in this study, we propose the… More >

Abstract Overloading the intestine enterocytes with lipids induced alteration of the Golgi complex (GC; ) and could cause glycosylation errors. Here, using differentiated Caco-2 cells with the established 0[I] blood group phenotype (no expression of the blood antigens A and B [AgA, AgB] under normal conditions) as a model of human enterocytes we examined whether the overloading of these cells with lipids could cause errors in the Golgi-dependent glycosylation. We demonstrated that under these conditions, there were alterations of the GC and the appearance of lipid droplets in the cytoplasm. Rare cells produced AgA and AgB. More >

An Improved Wheeler Model for Remaining Life Prediction of Cracked Plate Panels Under Tensile-Compressive Overloading

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.1, No.3, pp. 203-214, 2005, DOI:10.3970/sdhm.2005.001.203

Abstract This paper presents an improved Wheeler residual stress model for remaining life prediction of the cracked structural components under variable amplitude loading. The improvement to the Wheeler residual stress model is in two folds. One is expressions for the shaping exponent, which are generally obtained through experiments. Another is calculation of effective plastic zone size to incorporate the sequent effects under tensile-compressive overloading. The remaining life prediction has been carried out by employing the linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM) principles. Studies on remaining life prediction of cracked plate panels subjected to tensile-compressive overloading have been More >
