Influence of Spray Gun Position and Orientation on Liquid Film Development along a Cylindrical Surface

Jiuxuan Liu, Yong Zeng*, Xueya Zhao, Hongbo Chen, Bin Yan, Qian Lu

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.10, pp. 2499-2518, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.028413

    Abstract

A method combining computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and an analytical approach is proposed to develop a prediction model for the variable thickness of the spray-induced liquid film along the surface of a cylindrical workpiece. The numerical method relies on an Eulerian-Eulerian technique. Different cylinder diameters and positions and inclinations of the spray gun are considered and useful correlations for the thickness of the liquid film and its distribution are determined using various data fitting algorithms. Finally, the reliability of the proposed method is verified by means of experimental tests where the robot posture is changed. The

Effect of Particle Orientation on Heat Transfer in Arrays of Prolate Particles

    Romana Basit1, Xinyang Li1, Zheqing Huang1, Qiang Zhou1,2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.136, No.2, pp. 1509-1526, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.025308

Abstract Direct Numerical Simulations have been carried out to study the forced convection heat transfer of flow through fixed prolate particles for a variety of aspect ratios ar = {5/4, 5/3, 5/1} with Reynolds number (Re) up to 100. Three variations of the solid volume fraction c = {0.1, 0.2, 0.3} with four Hermans orientation factors S = {−0.5, 0, 0.5, 1} are studied. It has been found that changes in S cause prominent variations in the Nusselt number. In general, Nusselt number increases with the decrease of S. For all three aspect ratios, the Nusselt number remains More > Graphic Abstract

Copy Move Forgery Detection Using Novel Quadsort Moth Flame Light Gradient Boosting Machine

    R. Dhanya1,*, R. Kalaiselvi2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.2, pp. 1577-1593, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.031319

Abstract A severe problem in modern information systems is Digital media tampering along with fake information. Even though there is an enhancement in image development, image forgery, either by the photographer or via image manipulations, is also done in parallel. Numerous researches have been concentrated on how to identify such manipulated media or information manually along with automatically; thus conquering the complicated forgery methodologies with effortlessly obtainable technologically enhanced instruments. However, high complexity affects the developed methods. Presently, it is complicated to resolve the issue of the speed-accuracy trade-off. For tackling these challenges, this article put… More >

Copy-Move Geometric Tampering Estimation Through Enhanced SIFT Detector Method

    J. S. Sujin1,*, S. Sophia2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.1, pp. 157-171, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.023747

Abstract Digital picture forgery detection has recently become a popular and significant topic in image processing. Due to advancements in image processing and the availability of sophisticated software, picture fabrication may hide evidence and hinder the detection of such criminal cases. The practice of modifying original photographic images to generate a forged image is known as digital image forging. A section of an image is copied and pasted into another part of the same image to hide an item or duplicate particular image elements in copy-move forgery. In order to make the forgeries real and inconspicuous,… More >

Comparative Investigations on Fracture Toughness and Damping Response of Fabric Reinforced Epoxy Composites

    GAURAV AGARWAL

    Journal of Polymer Materials, Vol.39, No.3-4, pp. 255-267, 2022, DOI:10.32381/JPM.2022.39.3-4.6

Abstract Studies were conducted to observe the effect of fracture toughness and damping response on fabric reinforced epoxy polymer composites. The samples of glass fabric, kevlar fabric and carbon fabric having 15wt%, 25wt%, 35wt%, 45wt% and 55wt % fabric content were prepared and tested following ASTM standards. Fracture toughness, peak load and increase in energy absorption are determined for the fabric-epoxy composites. Effect of temperature on storage modulus, loss modulus and tan delta values for various percentages of fabric epoxy composites are noticed and corresponding damping response behaviour is determined. The results revealed that reduction in More >

Do Personality Variables Predict Job Embeddedness and Proclivity to Be Absent from Work?

    Rashin Kaviti, Osman M. Karatepe*

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.24, No.3, pp. 331-345, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ijmhp.2022.018516

Abstract The current knowledge base lacks evidence about situational- and surface-level personality variables and their impacts on job embeddedness and proclivity to be absent from work. With this recognition, drawing from the hierarchical personality model and fit theory as well as job embeddedness theory, our paper explores the influences of job resourcefulness (JR) and customer orientation (CO) on job embeddedness and propensity to be absent from work. We tapped time-lagged data gathered from hotel customer-contact employees in the United Arab Emirates to assess the aforementioned linkages via structural equation modeling. CO is a complete mediator between More >

Abstract Mobile phones are an essential part of modern life. The two popular mobile phone platforms, Android and iPhone Operating System (iOS), have an immense impact on the lives of millions of people. Among these two, Android currently boasts more than 84% market share. Thus, any personal data put on it are at great risk if not properly protected. On the other hand, more than a million pieces of malware have been reported on Android in just 2021 till date. Detecting and mitigating all this malware is extremely difficult for any set of human experts. Due… More >

    Dan Tian1,*, Danni Yu2, Chunhui He3

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.4, pp. 711-720, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.014290

Abstract In the search for sustainable alternatives to harmful synthetic fibers, an increasing amount of research focuses on biomimicry and natural fibers. Sea silk is an exceptional textile material. It is a kind of natural silk produced using the long silky filaments secreted by a specific bivalve mollusk (Pinna nobilis); now at edge of extinction. This paper suggests a simple but effective way to prepare artificial sea silk from Mytilus edulis. A sea silk solution is prepared using a Mytilus edulis protein, and a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) solution is mixed with the sea silk solution in order to produce More >

Voice More and Be Happier: How Employee Voice Influences Psychological Well-Being in the Workplace

    Jia Xu1, Baoguo Xie2,*, Yi Yang3, Linwei Li1

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.23, No.1, pp. 41-53, 2021, DOI:10.32604/IJMHP.2021.013518

Abstract The recently recognized core construct of employee voice has been demonstrated to be related to various outcomes. However, to date, the impact of employee voice over time and on important employee well-being has been rarely tested. In the present research, we studied in particular how employee voice behavior is related to psychological well-being. Employing the theory of self-determination, we developed three hypotheses pertinent to this relationship, including the mediating role of authentic self-expression and the moderating role of collectivist orientation. We tested our hypotheses using data from 217 employees in Mainland China over two time More >
