Abstract The objective of our study was to study the effect of danshen, a Chinese herbal medicine known to prevent hypertension, on the zero-stress state of rat's abdominal aorta. The zero-stress state of a blood vessel represents the release of residual stress on the vessel wall, and is the basic configuration of blood vessel affected solely by intrinsic parameters.
