    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.17, No.6, pp. 521-539, 2023, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2023.029850 - 17 November 2023

Abstract Numerical simulation of the spatial wind field plays a very important role in the study of wind-induced response law of transmission tower structures. A reasonable construction of a numerical simulation method of the wind field is conducive to the study of wind-induced response law under the action of an actual wind field. Currently, many research studies rely on simulating spatial wind fields as Gaussian wind, often overlooking the basic non-Gaussian characteristics. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the historical development and current state of spatial wind field simulations, along with a detailed… More > Graphic Abstract

Numerical Simulation of Non-Gaussian Winds and Application on Floating Offshore Wind Turbines

    Shu Dai1,*, Bert Sweetman2

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.27, No.2, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09687

Abstract Short-term wind process is normally assumed to be a Gaussian distribution, such as TurbSim, the widely used 3D wind field tool. Nowadays, newest researches indicate that non-Gaussian wind model is believed to be more accurate according to the field observation data. A new numerical method is proposed to generate non-Gaussian wind filed using translation process theory and spectral representation method. This study presents a comprehensive investigation on power production and blades fatigue damage of floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs) to the non-Gaussian wind field. The comparisons of Gaussian and non-Gaussian simulation results indicate that the More >

Kernel Entropy Based Extended Kalman Filter for GPS Navigation Processing

    Dah-Jing Jwo*, Jui-Tao Lee

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.1, pp. 857-876, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016894 - 22 March 2021

Abstract This paper investigates the kernel entropy based extended Kalman filter (EKF) as the navigation processor for the Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), such as the Global Positioning System (GPS). The algorithm is effective for dealing with non-Gaussian errors or heavy-tailed (or impulsive) interference errors, such as the multipath. The kernel minimum error entropy (MEE) and maximum correntropy criterion (MCC) based filtering for satellite navigation system is involved for dealing with non-Gaussian errors or heavy-tailed interference errors or outliers of the GPS. The standard EKF method is derived based on minimization of mean square error (MSE)… More >

Estimation Performance for the Cubature Particle Filter under Nonlinear/Non-Gaussian Environments

    Dah-Jing Jwo1,*, Chien-Hao Tseng2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.2, pp. 1555-1575, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014875 - 05 February 2021

Abstract This paper evaluates the state estimation performance for processing nonlinear/non-Gaussian systems using the cubature particle filter (CPF), which is an estimation algorithm that combines the cubature Kalman filter (CKF) and the particle filter (PF). The CPF is essentially a realization of PF where the third-degree cubature rule based on numerical integration method is adopted to approximate the proposal distribution. It is beneficial where the CKF is used to generate the importance density function in the PF framework for effectively resolving the nonlinear/non-Gaussian problems. Based on the spherical-radial transformation to generate an even number of equally… More >
