Abstract Naturally occurring yellow leaf mutants are an important resource for studying pigment content and biosynthesis, as well as related gene expression. In our ongoing cultivation of Rehmannia chingii H. L. Li, we found an off-type yellow plant. The yellowing started with the new leaves and gradually spread downward until the entire plant exhibited a stable shade of yellow. We studied the differences in the chlorophyll and carotenoid content, carotenoid profile, and transcriptome of this yellow-leaf mutant (P2). Compared to the wild-type R. chingii plant (P1), P2 leaves had significantly lower chlorophyll and carotenoid content. LC-MS/MS analysis revealed More >

Abstract Background: The use of third-generation different tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) is considered the most effective option for treating advanced non-small cell lung cancer (aNSCLC) with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations. However, there is limited information on the efficacy and safety of aumolertinib in patients remains these cases. Methods: The clinical records of patients receiving aumolertinib as first-line therapy across four hospitals in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from April 2020 to December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed, using progression-free survival (PFS) as the primary endpoint and overall survival (OS) representing the secondary endpoint. p53: A player in the tumor microenvironment

    SHUANG ZHAO1,#, HONGYONG WEN2,#, BAIQI WANG2, QINGLIN XIONG1, LANXIN LI1, AILAN CHENG1,*

    Oncology Research, Vol.33, No.4, pp. 795-810, 2025, DOI:10.32604/or.2025.057317 - 19 March 2025

Abstract Approximately half of all cancers have p53 inactivating mutations, in addition to which most malignancies inactivate the p53 pathway by increasing p53 inhibitors, decreasing p53 activators, or inactivating p53 downstream targets. A growing number of researches have demonstrated that p53 can influence tumor progression through the tumor microenvironment (TME). TME is involved in the process of tumor development and metastasis and affects the clinical prognosis of patients. p53 participates in host immunity and engages in the immune landscape of the TME, but the specific mechanisms remain to be investigated. This review briefly explores the More >

Abstract Background: Metformin has pleiotropic effects beyond glucose reduction, including tumor inhibition and immune regulation. It enhanced the anti-tumor effects of programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) inhibitors in serine/threonine kinase 11 (STK11) mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) through an axis inhibition protein 1 (AXIN1)-dependent manner. However, the alterations of tumor metabolism and metabolites upon metformin administration remain unclear. Methods: We performed untargeted metabolomics using liquid chromatography (LC)-mass spectrometry (MS)/MS system and conducted cell experiments to verify the results of bioinformatics analysis. Results: According to the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway database, most… More > Graphic Abstract

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.11, pp. 2981-2998, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2023.043151 - 24 October 2023

Abstract The phenotype of a common bean plant is often closely related to its yield, and the yield of plants with reduced height or poor stem development during growth is low. Mutants serve as an essential gene resource for common bean breeding genetic research. Although model plants and crops are studied to comprehend the molecular mechanisms and genetic basis of plant phenotypes, the molecular mechanism of phenotypic variation in common beans remains underexplored. We here used the mutant ‘nts’ as material for transcriptome sequencing analysis. This mutant was obtained through 60Co-γ irradiation from the common bean variety… More >

Abstract OsPLS4 encodes a β-ketoacyl carrier protein reductase (KAR). The role of OsPLS4 in rice sheath blight (Rhizoctonia solani) remains unclear. Our preliminary studies showed that premature leaf senescence mutants (pls4) were highly susceptive to sheath blight in the early stage of rice development. To explore the role of this gene in the development of rice sheath blight, the transcriptome profiles of the rice pls4 mutant and wild type were compared by RNA-seq. The results revealed 2,569 differentially expressed genes (DEGs). The down-regulated genes were significantly enriched in the defense response-related biological processes. These down-regulated genes included the chitinase… More >

Abstract Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is an oil and economic crop of vital importance, and peanut pod is the key organ influencing the yield and processing quality. Hence, the Pod-related traits (PRTs) are considered as important agronomic traits in peanut breeding. To broaden the variability of PRTs in current peanut germplasms, three elite peanut cultivars were used to construct Ethyl methane sulfonate (EMS)-induced mutant libraries in this study. The optimal EMS treatment conditions for the three peanut varieties were determined. It was found that the median lethal dose (LD50) of EMS treatment varied greatly among different genotypes.… More >

Abstract Leaf-color mutants play an important role in the study of chlorophyll metabolism, chloroplast development, and photosynthesis system. In this study, the yellow leaf 1 (yl1) rice mutant was identified from the ethyl methane sulfonate-treated mutant progeny of Lailong, a glutinous japonica rice landrace cultivated in Guizhou Province, China. Results showed that yl1 exhibited yellow leaves with decreased chlorophyll content throughout the growth period. Chloroplast development in the yl1 mutant was disrupted, and the grana lamellae was loosely packed and disordered. RNA sequencing and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) analysis revealed that the chlorophyll synthesis-related genes OsCHLH, OsCHLM, OsCHLG, PORB,… More >

Abstract Cloud computing is providing IT services to its customer based on Service level agreements (SLAs). It is important for cloud service providers to provide reliable Quality of service (QoS) and to maintain SLAs accountability. Cloud service providers need to predict possible service violations before the emergence of an issue to perform remedial actions for it. Cloud users’ major concerns; the factors for service reliability are based on response time, accessibility, availability, and speed. In this paper, we, therefore, experiment with the parallel mutant-Particle swarm optimization (PSO) for the detection and predictions of QoS violations in More >

Wei Zheng, Zheng Shi, Mei Long, Yuncheng Liao*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.90, No.4, pp. 1147-1159, 2021, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2021.015916 - 27 April 2021

Abstract Enhancing photosynthesis efficiency is considered as one of the most crucial targets during wheat breeding. However, the molecular basis underlying high photosynthesis efficiency is not well understood up to now. In this study, we investigated the protein expression profile of wheat Jimai5265yg mutant, which is a yellow-green mutant with chlorophylls b deficiency but high photosynthesis efficiency. Though TMT-labeling quantitative proteomics analysis, a total of 72 differential expressed proteins (DEPs) were obtained between the mutant and wild type (WT). GO analysis found that they significantly enriched in thylakoid membrane, pigment binding, magnesium chelatase activity and response More >
