Abstract Multimodal medical image fusion has attained immense popularity in recent years due to its robust technology for clinical diagnosis. It fuses multiple images into a single image to improve the quality of images by retaining significant information and aiding diagnostic practitioners in diagnosing and treating many diseases. However, recent image fusion techniques have encountered several challenges, including fusion artifacts, algorithm complexity, and high computing costs. To solve these problems, this study presents a novel medical image fusion strategy by combining the benefits of pixel significance with edge-preserving processing to achieve the best fusion performance. Construction of Operator-Orthogonal Wavelet-Based Elements for Adaptive Analysis of Thin Plate Bending Problems

    Y.M. Wang1,2, Q. Wu1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.93, No.1, pp. 17-45, 2013, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2013.093.017

Abstract A new kind of operator-orthogonal wavelet-based element is constructed based on the lifting scheme for adaptive analysis of thin plate bending problems. The operators of rectangular and skew thin plate bending problems and the sufficient condition for the operator-orthogonality of multilevel stiffness matrix are derived in the multiresolution finite element space. A new type of operator-orthogonal wavelets for thin plate bending problems is custom designed with high vanishing moments to be orthogonal with the scaling functions with respect to the operators of the problems, which ensures the independent solution of the problems in each scale. A Fast Adaptive Wavelet scheme in RBF Collocation for nearly singular potential PDEs

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.38, No.3, pp. 263-284, 2008, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2008.038.263

Abstract We present a wavelet based adaptive scheme and investigate the efficiency of this scheme for solving nearly singular potential PDEs. Multiresolution wavelet analysis (MRWA) provides a firm mathematical foundation by projecting the solution of PDE onto a nested sequence of approximation spaces. The wavelet coefficients then were used as an estimation of the sensible regions for node adaptation. The proposed adaptation scheme requires negligible calculation time due to the existence of the fast Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT). Certain aspects of the proposed adaptive scheme are discussed through numerical examples. It has been shown that the More >
