Visual Perception and Adaptive Scene Analysis with Autonomous Panoptic Segmentation

    Darthy Rabecka V1,*, Britto Pari J1, Man-Fai Leung2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.85, No.1, pp. 827-853, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.064924 - 29 August 2025

Abstract Techniques in deep learning have significantly boosted the accuracy and productivity of computer vision segmentation tasks. This article offers an intriguing architecture for semantic, instance, and panoptic segmentation using EfficientNet-B7 and Bidirectional Feature Pyramid Networks (Bi-FPN). When implemented in place of the EfficientNet-B5 backbone, EfficientNet-B7 strengthens the model’s feature extraction capabilities and is far more appropriate for real-world applications. By ensuring superior multi-scale feature fusion, Bi-FPN integration enhances the segmentation of complex objects across various urban environments. The design suggested is examined on rigorous datasets, encompassing Cityscapes, Common Objects in Context, KITTI Karlsruhe Institute of… More >

Bridge Crack Segmentation Method Based on Parallel Attention Mechanism and Multi-Scale Features Fusion

    Jianwei Yuan1, Xinli Song1,*, Huaijian Pu2, Zhixiong Zheng3, Ziyang Niu3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.3, pp. 6485-6503, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.035165 - 28 December 2022

Abstract Regular inspection of bridge cracks is crucial to bridge maintenance and repair. The traditional manual crack detection methods are time-consuming, dangerous and subjective. At the same time, for the existing mainstream vision-based automatic crack detection algorithms, it is challenging to detect fine cracks and balance the detection accuracy and speed. Therefore, this paper proposes a new bridge crack segmentation method based on parallel attention mechanism and multi-scale features fusion on top of the DeeplabV3+ network framework. First, the improved lightweight MobileNet-v2 network and dilated separable convolution are integrated into the original DeeplabV3+ network to improve… More >

CT Segmentation of Liver and Tumors Fused Multi-Scale Features

    Aihong Yu1, Zhe Liu1,*, Victor S. Sheng2, Yuqing Song1, Xuesheng Liu3, Chongya Ma4, Wenqiang Wang1, Cong Ma1

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.30, No.2, pp. 589-599, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.019513 - 11 August 2021

Abstract Liver cancer is one of frequent causes of death from malignancy in the world. Owing to the outstanding advantages of computer-aided diagnosis and deep learning, fully automatic segmentation of computed tomography (CT) images turned into a research hotspot over the years. The liver has quite low contrast with the surrounding tissues, together with its lesion areas are thoroughly complex. To deal with these problems, we proposed effective methods for enhancing features and processed public datasets from Liver Tumor Segmentation Challenge (LITS) for the verification. In this experiment, data pre-processing based on the image enhancement and… More >

Deep Learning Approach for COVID-19 Detection in Computed Tomography Images

    Mohamad Mahmoud Al Rahhal1, Yakoub Bazi2,*, Rami M. Jomaa3, Mansour Zuair2, Naif Al Ajlan2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.2, pp. 2093-2110, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014956 - 05 February 2021

Abstract With the rapid spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) worldwide, the establishment of an accurate and fast process to diagnose the disease is important. The routine real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (rRT-PCR) test that is currently used does not provide such high accuracy or speed in the screening process. Among the good choices for an accurate and fast test to screen COVID-19 are deep learning techniques. In this study, a new convolutional neural network (CNN) framework for COVID-19 detection using computed tomography (CT) images is proposed. The EfficientNet architecture is applied as the backbone… More >
