    Zhao Yang1, Yuan Zhang1, Lei Zhu2,*, Lei Huang1, Fangyu Hu3, Yanping Du1, Xiaowei Li1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.2, pp. 2889-2904, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.037297 - 31 March 2023

Abstract High-frequency (HF) and ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) dual-band radio frequency identification (RFID) tags with both near-field and far-field communication can meet different application scenarios. However, it is time-consuming to calculate the return loss of a UHF antenna in a dual-band tag antenna using electromagnetic (EM) simulators. To overcome this, the present work proposes a model of a multi-scale convolutional neural network stacked with long and short-term memory (MSCNN-LSTM) for predicting the return loss of UHF antennas instead of EM simulators. In the proposed MSCNN-LSTM, the MSCNN has three branches, which include three convolution layers with different kernel… More >

Using Hybrid Penalty and Gated Linear Units to Improve Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Networks for Single-Channel Speech Enhancement

    Xiaojun Zhu1,2,3, Heming Huang1,2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.3, pp. 2155-2172, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.021453 - 23 November 2022

Abstract Recently, speech enhancement methods based on Generative Adversarial Networks have achieved good performance in time-domain noisy signals. However, the training of Generative Adversarial Networks has such problems as convergence difficulty, model collapse, etc. In this work, an end-to-end speech enhancement model based on Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Networks is proposed, and some improvements have been made in order to get faster convergence speed and better generated speech quality. Specifically, in the generator coding part, each convolution layer adopts different convolution kernel sizes to conduct convolution operations for obtaining speech coding information from multiple scales; a gated More >

Feature Fusion-Based Deep Learning Network to Recognize Table Tennis Actions

    Chih-Ta Yen1,*, Tz-Yun Chen2, Un-Hung Chen3, Guo-Chang Wang3, Zong-Xian Chen3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 83-99, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.032739 - 22 September 2022

Abstract A system for classifying four basic table tennis strokes using wearable devices and deep learning networks is proposed in this study. The wearable device consisted of a six-axis sensor, Raspberry Pi 3, and a power bank. Multiple kernel sizes were used in convolutional neural network (CNN) to evaluate their performance for extracting features. Moreover, a multiscale CNN with two kernel sizes was used to perform feature fusion at different scales in a concatenated manner. The CNN achieved recognition of the four table tennis strokes. Experimental data were obtained from 20 research participants who wore sensors More >

Towards No-Reference Image Quality Assessment Based on Multi-Scale Convolutional Neural Network

    Yao Ma1, Xibiao Cai1, *, Fuming Sun2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.123, No.1, pp. 201-216, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.07867 - 01 April 2020

Abstract Image quality assessment has become increasingly important in image quality monitoring and reliability assuring of image processing systems. Most of the existing no-reference image quality assessment methods mainly exploit the global information of image while ignoring vital local information. Actually, the introduced distortion depends on a slight difference in details between the distorted image and the non-distorted reference image. In light of this, we propose a no-reference image quality assessment method based on a multi-scale convolutional neural network, which integrates both global information and local information of an image. We first adopt the image pyramid More >

    Jieren Cheng1, 2, Yifu Liu1, *, Xiangyan Tang1, Victor S. Sheng3, Mengyang Li1, Junqi Li1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.62, No.3, pp. 1317-1333, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.06177

Abstract Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) has caused great damage to the network in the big data environment. Existing methods are characterized by low computational efficiency, high false alarm rate and high false alarm rate. In this paper, we propose a DDoS attack detection method based on network flow grayscale matrix feature via multiscale convolutional neural network (CNN). According to the different characteristics of the attack flow and the normal flow in the IP protocol, the seven-tuple is defined to describe the network flow characteristics and converted into a grayscale feature by binary. Based on the network flow More >
