When Large Language Models and Machine Learning Meet Multi-Criteria Decision Making: Fully Integrated Approach for Social Media Moderation

    Noreen Fuentes1, Janeth Ugang1, Narcisan Galamiton1, Suzette Bacus1, Samantha Shane Evangelista2, Fatima Maturan2, Lanndon Ocampo2,3,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.86, No.1, pp. 1-26, 2026, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2025.068104 - 10 November 2025

Abstract This study demonstrates a novel integration of large language models, machine learning, and multi-criteria decision-making to investigate self-moderation in small online communities, a topic under-explored compared to user behavior and platform-driven moderation on social media. The proposed methodological framework (1) utilizes large language models for social media post analysis and categorization, (2) employs k-means clustering for content characterization, and (3) incorporates the TODIM (Tomada de Decisão Interativa Multicritério) method to determine moderation strategies based on expert judgments. In general, the fully integrated framework leverages the strengths of these intelligent systems in a more systematic evaluation… More >

Abstract Transportation systems are rapidly transforming in response to urbanization, sustainability challenges, and advances in digital technologies. This review synthesizes the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), fuzzy logic, and multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) in transportation research. A comprehensive literature search was conducted in the Scopus database, utilizing carefully selected AI, fuzzy, and MCDM keywords. Studies were rigorously screened according to explicit inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in 73 eligible publications spanning 2006–2025. The review protocol included transparent data extraction on methodological approaches, application domains, and geographic distribution. Key findings highlight the prevalence of hybrid fuzzy AHP and… More >

Innovative Aczel Alsina Group Overlap Functions for AI-Based Criminal Justice Policy Selection under Intuitionistic Fuzzy Set

    Ikhtesham Ullah1, Muhammad Sajjad Ali Khan2, Fawad Hussain1, Madad Khan3, Kamran4,*, Ioan-Lucian Popa5,6,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.144, No.2, pp. 2123-2164, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2025.064832 - 31 August 2025

Abstract Multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) is essential for handling complex decision problems under uncertainty, especially in fields such as criminal justice, healthcare, and environmental management. Traditional fuzzy MCDM techniques have failed to deal with problems where uncertainty or vagueness is involved. To address this issue, we propose a novel framework that integrates group and overlap functions with Aczel-Alsina (AA) operational laws in the intuitionistic fuzzy set (IFS) environment. Overlap functions capture the degree to which two inputs share common features and are used to find how closely two values or criteria match in uncertain environments, while the… More >

Development of AHP-Based Divergence Distance Measure between –Spherical Fuzzy Sets with Applications in Multi-Criteria Decision Making

    Shah Zeb Khan1, Muhammad Rahim2, Adel M. Widyan3,*, A. Almutairi3, Njood Shaher Ethaar Almutire3, Hamiden Abd El-Wahed Khalifa3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.143, No.2, pp. 2185-2211, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2025.063929 - 30 May 2025

Abstract This study introduces a novel distance measure (DM) for spherical fuzzy sets (SFSs) to improve decision-making in complex and uncertain environments. Many existing distance measures either fail to satisfy essential axiomatic properties or produce unintuitive outcomes. To address these limitations, we propose a new three-dimensional divergence-based DM that ensures mathematical consistency, enhances the discrimination of information, and adheres to the axiomatic framework of distance theory. Building on this foundation, we construct a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) model that utilizes the proposed DM to evaluate and rank alternatives effectively. The applicability and robustness of the model are More >

CRITIC-CoCoSo Model Application in Hybrid Solar-Wind Energy Plant Location Selection Problem: A Case Study in Vietnam

    Viet Tinh Nguyen, Rujira Chaysiri*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.122, No.2, pp. 515-536, 2025, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.057786 - 31 January 2025

Abstract This paper presents a novel multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) model for selecting optimal locations for a solar-wind hybrid energy plant in Vietnam. The study employs the Criteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation (CRITIC) and Combined Compromise Solution (CoCoSo) methods to address the challenge of evaluating potential sites based on a range of economic, technical, environmental, and social criteria. By integrating CRITIC for criteria weighting and CoCoSo for ranking alternatives, the study underscores the importance of objective, data-driven approaches in the strategic planning and implementation of sustainable energy projects. The results identify Ham Thuan Nam District in Binh More >

    Nabilah Abughazalah1, Iqra Ishaque2, Majid Khan2,*, Ammar S. Alanazi3, Iqtadar Hussain4,5

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.2, pp. 1451-1463, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.031855 - 05 January 2023

Abstract In today’s digital world, the most inevitable challenge is the protection of digital information. Due to the weak confidentiality preserving techniques, the existing world is facing several digital information breaches. To make our digital data indecipherable to the unauthorized person, a technique for finding a cryptographically strong Substitution box (S-box) have presented. An S-box with sound cryptographic assets such as nonlinearity (NL), strict avalanche criterion (SAC), bit independence criteria (BIC), bit independence criteria of nonlinearity (BIC-NL), Bit independence criteria of Strict avalanche criteria (BIC-SAC), and Input/output XOR is considered as the robust S-box. The Decision-Making… More >

Fuzzy Multi-criteria Decision Making for Decision Support in Port Capacity Upgrade

    Chia-Nan Wang, Tien–Lin Chao*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.2, pp. 2485-2494, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.026682 - 16 June 2022

Abstract In many port capacity upgrade projects, choosing a supplier of equipment is a complicated decision, project managers must consider many criteria to choose a supplier to ensure the project is completed on time, optimal in terms of benefit and cost. Therefore, selecting the equipment supplier in this project is a multi-criteria decision-making process. The multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) model is applied in many fields to select the optimal solution, but there are very few studies using the MCDM model to support project managers in evaluating and selecting optimal solutions in port capacity upgrade project. Abstract Software developers endeavor to build their products with the least number of bugs. Despite this, many vulnerabilities are detected in software that threatens its integrity. Various automated software i.e., vulnerability scanners, are available in the market which helps detect and manage vulnerabilities in a computer, application, or a network. Hence, the choice of an appropriate vulnerability scanner is crucial to ensure efficient vulnerability management. The current work serves a dual purpose, first, to identify the key factors which affect the vulnerability discovery process in a network. The second, is to rank the popular vulnerability scanners… More >
