Circular RNA circFOXM1 triggers the tumorigenesis of non-small cell lung cancer through miR-132-3p/TMEM14A axis

    BIOCELL, Vol.45, No.4, pp. 901-910, 2021, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2021.08672 - 22 April 2021

Abstract Earlier studies indicated that circular RNAs (circRNAs) were found in various cancer cells, and circFOXM1 was reported to act as an oncogene in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the function of circFOXM1 in NSCLC remains unclear. The expression levels of genes were measured using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reactions (qRT-PCR). Cell proliferation and apoptosis were determined by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide solution (MTT) and flow cytometry assay. The relative protein expression was assessed by western blot. Moreover, transwell assays were employed to examine cell migration and invasion. The targeted relationship was confirmed by dual-luciferase reporter assay.… More >

miR-132 Targets FOXA1 and Exerts Tumor-Suppressing Functions in Thyroid Cancer

Xin Chen*, Mingzhe Li, Hongwei Zhou*, Li Zhang*

    Oncology Research, Vol.28, No.9, pp. 965-967, 2020, DOI:10.3727/096504022X16414984936764

Abstract MicroRNA-132 (miR-132) has been demonstrated to be a tumor suppressor in several types of tumors. However, the expression and the role of miR-132 in human thyroid cancer are still poorly understood. The aim of the present study was to examine the potential roles and molecular mechanism of miR-132 in thyroid cancer. We found that miR-132 expression levels were significantly downregulated in thyroid cancer tissues and cell lines. Function assays showed that overexpression of miR-132 in TPC1 cells inhibited cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Forkhead box protein A1 (FOXA1) was identified as a direct target of More >
