DNBP-CCA: A Novel Approach to Enhancing Heterogeneous Data Traffic and Reliable Data Transmission for Body Area Network

    Abdulwadood Alawadhi1,*, Mohd. Hasbullah Omar1, Abdullah Almogahed2, Noradila Nordin3, Salman A. Alqahtani4, Atif M. Alamri5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.79, No.2, pp. 2851-2878, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.050154

Abstract The increased adoption of Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) technologies has resulted in the widespread use of Body Area Networks (BANs) in medical and non-medical domains. However, the performance of IEEE 802.15.4-based BANs is impacted by challenges related to heterogeneous data traffic requirements among nodes, including contention during finite backoff periods, association delays, and traffic channel access through clear channel assessment (CCA) algorithms. These challenges lead to increased packet collisions, queuing delays, retransmissions, and the neglect of critical traffic, thereby hindering performance indicators such as throughput, packet delivery ratio, packet drop rate, and packet delay.… More >

    Abdallah Elhigazi Abdallah1, Mosab Hamdan2, Shukor Abd Razak3, Fuad A. Ghalib3, Muzaffar Hamzah2,*, Suleman Khan4, Siddiq Ahmed Babikir Ali5, Mutaz H. H. Khairi1, Sayeed Salih6

Abstract IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi networks are prone to many denial of service (DoS) attacks due to vulnerabilities at the media access control (MAC) layer of the 802.11 protocol. Due to the data transmission nature of the wireless local area network (WLAN) through radio waves, its communication is exposed to the possibility of being attacked by illegitimate users. Moreover, the security design of the wireless structure is vulnerable to versatile attacks. For example, the attacker can imitate genuine features, rendering classification-based methods inaccurate in differentiating between real and false messages. Although many security standards have been proposed… More >

Full Duplex Media Access Control Protocol for Multihop Network Computing

    J. Avila Selvi Therase1,*, S. Allwin1, A. Ahilan2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.1, pp. 297-309, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.023515

Abstract Intelligent communication technologies beyond the network are proposed by using a new full-duplex protocol. The Media Access Control (MAC) is a data interaction network protocol, which outperforms the IEEE 802.15.4e. This research discusses the planning and execution of full-duplex (FD) pipeline MAC protocol for multihop wireless networks (MWN). The design uses a combination of Radio frequency and baseband methods to realize full-duplexing with smallest impact on cross layer functions. The execution and trial results specify that Pipeline Media Access Control (PiMAC) protocol considerably develops network implementation in terms of transmission protocol (TP) and transmission delay.… More >
