Abstract In order to explore the role of forkhead box protein O1 (FoxO1) in the lipid metabolism and cell proliferation, goose primary hepatocytes were isolated and incubated with insulin or PI3K-Akt-mTOR pathway dual inhibitor NVP-BEZ235, and then transfected with FoxO1 interference plasmid. The related parameters of lipid metabolism and cell proliferation were measured. The results firstly showed that FoxO1 interference increased the intracellular TG and lipids concentration (P < 0.05); and increased the proliferative index (PI), cell DNA synthesis, protein expression of Cyclin D1 in goose primary hepatocytes (P < 0.05). Secondly, the co-treatment of insulin and… More >

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.90, No.2, pp. 515-531, 2021, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2021.013619 - 07 February 2021

Abstract The need for renewable energy sources makes microalgae an essential feedstock for biofuels production. The molecular aspects and the response to nitrogen (N)-limited conditions with a phytohormone stimulus in microalgae have been slightly explored. In this work, Scenedesmus obliquus was used as a study model to analyze the effect of benzyl amino purine (BAP) and gibberellic acid (GA) coupled to nitrogen limitation on cell growth, biomass and fatty acids. The selected 10-5 M BAP increased the biomass by 1.44-fold, and 10-6 M GA by 1.35-fold. The total lipids also increased by 2.8 and 1.11-fold, respectively. The 10-5 M… More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.33, No.2, pp. 99-106, 2009, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2009.33.099

Abstract Comparative studies on fatty acid and protein composition of the endosperm and embryo of palmito (Euterpe edulis Martius) were conducted using gas-liquid chromatography and sodium dodecyl sulfate–polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. On a dry weight basis, the embryo contained extremely lower amounts of lipids and proteins than did the endosperm, which was associated with the scarce lipid and protein bodies previously reported in axis and cotyledon. The fatty acid composition also exhibited differences between both tissues: (I) the fatty acid diversity was greater in embryo than in endosperm; (II) embryo and endosperm contained predominantly linoleic, palmitic, oleic and More >
