    Abstract The effects of the erosion present on the leading edge of a wind turbine airfoil (DU 96-W-180) on its aerodynamic performances have been investigated numerically in the framework of a SST k–ω turbulence model based on the Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations (RANS). The results indicate that when sand-induced holes and small pits are involved as leading edge wear features, they have a minimal influence on the lift and drag coefficients of the airfoil.     Physiological and Biochemical Responses of Perennial Ryegrass Mixed Planting with Legumes under Heavy Metal Pollution

    Abstract In artificially controlled pot experiments, perennial ryegrass was mixed with other leguminous plants (white clover and alfalfa) and treated with lead, zinc and cadmium (337 mg·kg, 648 mg·kg, and 9 mg·kg, respectively) to simulate compound pollution conditions. The results showed that the concentrations of heavy metals, transport factors, and bioconcentration factors in mixed planting of ryegrass decreased compared with those in monoculture. Regardless of whether heavy metal pollution was introduced, mixed planting increased the aboveground and underground biomasses of ryegrass.     Abstract Heart monitoring improves life quality. Electrocardiograms (ECGs or EKGs) detect heart irregularities. Machine learning algorithms can create a few ECG diagnosis processing methods. The first method uses raw ECG and time-series data. The second method classifies the ECG by patient experience. The third technique translates ECG impulses into Q waves, R waves and S waves (QRS) features using richer information.     Abstract Owing to the ubiquitous use of smartphones by soldiers, military researchers have an increasing interest in potentially problematic side effects such as smartphone overdependence. This raises a question regarding the psychological mechanisms underlying the potentially self-damaging use of smartphones. Here, we address this question by analyzing how heterogeneity in commander’s good leadership explains subordinate soldiers’ differences in self-control and smartphone use. Specifically, we found that subordinate soldiers who thought their commander's leadership was good were self-regulated, less dependent on smartphones, less stressed, and finally had good mental health.
