    Oncology Research, Vol.24, No.6, pp. 477-485, 2016, DOI:10.3727/096504016X14685034103716

Abstract Collagen triple helix repeat containing-1 (CTHRC1), a secreted glycoprotein, is frequently upregulated in human cancers. However, the functional role of CTHRC1 in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) remains unclear. Thus, the aim of this study was to explore the role of CTHRC1 in RCC. Our results demonstrated that CTHRC1 was upregulated in RCC tissues and cell lines. Knockdown of CTHRC1 significantly inhibits the proliferation in RCCs. Furthermore, knockdown of CTHRC1 significantly inhibited the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) process in RCCs, as well as suppressed RCC cell migration and invasion. Mechanistically, knockdown of CTHRC1 inhibited the expression of More >

    Oncology Research, Vol.25, No.2, pp. 225-232, 2017, DOI:10.3727/096504016X14732772150587

Abstract Collagen triple helix repeat containing 1 (CTHRC1), an extracellular matrix-related protein, has been found to be upregulated in many solid tumors and contributes to tumorigenesis. We found that CTHRC1 is overexpressed in glioblastoma tissues and cells. By using the technique of RNA interference, the expression of CTHRC1 in the human glioblastoma U-87MG cell line was downregulated, and the proliferation and migration of U-87MG cells were examined. The results showed that the knockdown of CTHRC1 exerts inhibitory effects on the proliferation and migration ability of U-87MG cells. Knockdown of CTHRC1 expression in U-87MG cells resulted in More >

Research on Cavitation Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Herringbone Gear Pump

Jinlong Yang, Kwang-Hee Lee, Chul-Hee Lee*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.139, No.3, pp. 2917-2946, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.046740

Abstract Cavitation is a common issue in pumps, causing a decrease in pump head, a fall in volumetric efficiency, and an intensification of outlet flow pulsation. It is one of the main hazards that affect the regular operation of the pump. Research on pump cavitation mainly focuses on mixed flow pumps, jet pumps, external spur gear pumps, etc. However, there are few cavitation studies on external herringbone gear pumps. In addition, pumps with different working principles significantly differ in the flow and complexity of the internal flow field. Therefore, it is urgent to study the cavitation… More >

Notes on Curves at a Constant Distance from the Edge of Regression on a Curve in Galilean 3-Space

    Ali Çakmak1,*, Sezai Kızıltuğ2, Gökhan Mumcu3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.3, pp. 2731-2742, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.024517

Abstract In this paper, we define the curve at a constant distance from the edge of regression on a curve r(s) with arc length parameter s in Galilean 3-space. Here, d is a non-isotropic or isotropic vector defined as a vector tightly fastened to Frenet trihedron of the curve r(s) in 3-dimensional Galilean space. We build the Frenet frame of the constructed curve with respect to two types of the vector d and we indicate the properties related to the curvatures of the curve . Also, for the curve , we give the conditions to be a circular helix. More >

Transcriptome Analysis via RNA Sequencing Reveals the Molecular Mechanisms Underlying the Hedera helix Response to High Temperature

    Ting Zhang1,2, Ping Li3,*, Jiali Wei3,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.91, No.11, pp. 2403-2417, 2022, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.022421

Abstract Hedera helix is an evergreen ornamental plant that is resistant to cool but not high temperature and deserves to be further researched for improving its adaptability to heat stress. Two Hedera helix cultivars, heat-tolerant (HT) ‘Jessica’ and heat-sensitive (HS) ‘Shamrock’, were used for differences analyses of transcriptome. We detected 6179 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and 5992 DEGs in ‘Jessica’ and ‘Shamrock’ to heat stress, respectively. Among these, 1983 upregulated DEGs and 1400 downregulated DEGs were shared between both varieties, resulting in enhancement of various pathways such as biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, glyoxylate dicarboxylate metabolism, and protein processing… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 1935-1944, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.019495

Abstract This paper presents the design and characterization of a via free planar single turn helix for 28 GHz broadband applications. The proposed antenna is designed using ROGERS RO4003 material, having a simple structure and end-fire radiation pattern. The antenna comprises of a compact dimension of 1.36 λ0 × 0.9 λ0 with a thickness of 0.0189 λ0 (where λ0 is the free-space wavelength at the central frequency of 28 GHz). Parametric study has been carried out to investigate the impact of key design parameters and to achieve an optimum design. Results show a good agreement between the simulated… More >
