    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.78, No.3, pp. 3971-3991, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.047875 - 26 March 2024

Abstract This paper focuses on wireless-powered communication systems, which are increasingly relevant in the Internet of Things (IoT) due to their ability to extend the operational lifetime of devices with limited energy. The main contribution of the paper is a novel approach to minimize the secrecy outage probability (SOP) in these systems. Minimizing SOP is crucial for maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of data, especially in situations where the transmission of sensitive data is critical. Our proposed method harnesses the power of an improved biogeography-based optimization (IBBO) to effectively train a recurrent neural network (RNN). The… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.3, pp. 3159-3177, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.041059 - 11 September 2023

Abstract The optimization of cognitive radio (CR) system using an enhanced firefly algorithm (EFA) is presented in this work. The Firefly algorithm (FA) is a nature-inspired algorithm based on the unique light-flashing behavior of fireflies. It has already proved its competence in various optimization problems, but it suffers from slow convergence issues. To improve the convergence performance of FA, a new variant named EFA is proposed. The effectiveness of EFA as a good optimizer is demonstrated by optimizing benchmark functions, and simulation results show its superior performance compared to biogeography-based optimization (BBO), bat algorithm, artificial bee More >

Do Geographically Isolated Grasslands Follow the Principle of Island Biogeography in a Landscape Scale? Taking Poyang Lake Grassland as an Example

    Shiqi Luo1,3, Wenbo Chen2,3,*, Lei He4, Qiongbing Xiong1,3

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.2, pp. 455-470, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.022466 - 12 October 2022

Abstract As one of the basic theories of biodiversity conservation, island biogeography has been widely accepted in the past decades. Originally, island biogeography was put forward and applied in oceanic environments. But later on, it was found out that the application was not only limited to oceanic islands, but also in terrestrial environments with relatively isolated conditions. In terms of biodiversity level, island biogeography generally focuses on a small scale, such as species diversity and genetic diversity. The studies of biodiversity on a large-scale based on island biogeography, such as ecosystem and landscape scales, were seldomly… More >

Abstract Recently, developments of Internet and cloud technologies have resulted in a considerable rise in utilization of online media for day to day lives. It results in illegal access to users’ private data and compromises it. Phishing is a popular attack which tricked the user into accessing malicious data and gaining the data. Proper identification of phishing emails can be treated as an essential process in the domain of cybersecurity. This article focuses on the design of biogeography based optimization with deep learning for Phishing Email detection and classification (BBODL-PEDC) model. The major intention of the… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.2, pp. 1611-1625, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.029299 - 19 July 2022

Abstract PID controllers play an important function in determining tuning parameters in any process sector to deliver optimal and resilient performance for nonlinear, stable and unstable processes. The effectiveness of the presented hybrid metaheuristic algorithms for a class of time-delayed unstable systems is described in this study when applicable to the problems of PID controller and Smith PID controller. The Direct Multi Search (DMS) algorithm is utilised in this research to combine the local search ability of global heuristic algorithms to tune a PID controller for a time-delayed unstable process model. A Metaheuristics Algorithm such as,… More >

An Optimal Method for High-Resolution Population Geo-Spatial Data

    Rami Sameer Ahmad Al Kloub*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.2, pp. 2801-2820, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.027847 - 16 June 2022

Abstract Mainland China has a poor distribution of meteorological stations. Existing models’ estimation accuracy for creating high-resolution surfaces of meteorological data is restricted for air temperature, and low for relative humidity and wind speed (few studies reported). This study compared the typical generalized additive model (GAM) and autoencoder-based residual neural network (hereafter, residual network for short) in terms of predicting three meteorological parameters, namely air temperature, relative humidity, and wind speed, using data from 824 monitoring stations across China’s mainland in 2015. The performance of the two models was assessed using a 10-fold cross-validation procedure. The… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.2, pp. 3717-3732, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.018487 - 27 September 2021

Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has created a major challenge for countries all over the world and has placed tremendous pressure on their public health care services. An early diagnosis of COVID-19 may reduce the impact of the coronavirus. To achieve this objective, modern computation methods, such as deep learning, may be applied. In this study, a computational model involving deep learning and biogeography-based optimization (BBO) for early detection and management of COVID-19 is introduced. Specifically, BBO is used for the layer selection process in the proposed convolutional neural network (CNN). The computational model accepts images, such More >

Abstract Location information plays an important role in most of the applications in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). Recently, many localization techniques have been proposed, while most of these deals with two Dimensional applications. Whereas, in Three Dimensional applications the task is complex and there are large variations in the altitude levels. In these 3D environments, the sensors are placed in mountains for tracking and deployed in air for monitoring pollution level. For such applications, 2D localization models are not reliable. Due to this, the design of 3D localization systems in WSNs faces new challenges. In this… More >
