Abstract With the increasing penetration of renewable energy in power system, renewable energy power ramp events (REPREs), dominated by wind power and photovoltaic power, pose significant threats to the secure and stable operation of power systems. This paper presents an early warning method for REPREs based on long short-term memory (LSTM) network and fuzzy logic. First, the warning levels of REPREs are defined by assessing the control costs of various power control measures. Then, the next 4-h power support capability of external grid is estimated by a tie line power prediction model, which is constructed based More > Graphic Abstract

Knowledge-Driven Possibilistic Clustering with Automatic Cluster Elimination

    Xianghui Hu1, Yiming Tang2,3, Witold Pedrycz3,4, Jiuchuan Jiang5,*, Yichuan Jiang1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.80, No.3, pp. 4917-4945, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.054775 - 12 September 2024

Abstract Traditional Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) and Possibilistic C-Means (PCM) clustering algorithms are data-driven, and their objective function minimization process is based on the available numeric data. Recently, knowledge hints have been introduced to form knowledge-driven clustering algorithms, which reveal a data structure that considers not only the relationships between data but also the compatibility with knowledge hints. However, these algorithms cannot produce the optimal number of clusters by the clustering algorithm itself; they require the assistance of evaluation indices. Moreover, knowledge hints are usually used as part of the data structure (directly replacing some clustering centers),… More >

Lithium-Ion Battery Pack Based on Fuzzy Logic Control Research on Multi-Layer Equilibrium Circuits

    Tiezhou Wu, Yukan Zhang*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.8, pp. 2231-2255, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.049883 - 19 July 2024

Abstract In order to solve the problem of inconsistent energy in the charging and discharging cycles of lithium-ion battery packs, a new multilayer equilibrium topology is designed in this paper. The structure adopts a hierarchical structure design, which includes intra-group equilibrium, primary inter-group equilibrium and secondary inter-group equilibrium. This structure greatly increases the number of equilibrium paths for lithium-ion batteries, thus shortening the time required for equilibrium, and improving the overall efficiency. In terms of control strategy, fuzzy logic control (FLC) is chosen to control the size of the equilibrium current during the equilibrium process. We… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.78, No.2, pp. 2245-2267, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.047323 - 27 February 2024

Abstract Increasing Internet of Things (IoT) device connectivity makes botnet attacks more dangerous, carrying catastrophic hazards. As IoT botnets evolve, their dynamic and multifaceted nature hampers conventional detection methods. This paper proposes a risk assessment framework based on fuzzy logic and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to address the risks associated with IoT botnets. Fuzzy logic addresses IoT threat uncertainties and ambiguities methodically. Fuzzy component settings are optimized using PSO to improve accuracy. The methodology allows for more complex thinking by transitioning from binary to continuous assessment. Instead of expert inputs, PSO data-driven tunes rules and membership More >

    Nadeem Salamat1, Muhammad Kamran1,2,*, Shahzaib Ashraf1, Manal Elzain Mohammed Abdulla3, Rashad Ismail3, Mohammed M. Al-Shamiri3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.139, No.2, pp. 1893-1933, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.044697 - 29 January 2024

Abstract The main goal of informal computing is to overcome the limitations of hypersensitivity to defects and uncertainty while maintaining a balance between high accuracy, accessibility, and cost-effectiveness. This paper investigates the potential applications of intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFS) with rough sets in the context of sparse data. When it comes to capture uncertain information emanating from both upper and lower approximations, these intuitionistic fuzzy rough numbers (IFRNs) are superior to intuitionistic fuzzy sets and pythagorean fuzzy sets, respectively. We use rough sets in conjunction with IFSs to develop several fairly aggregation operators and analyze their… More > Graphic Abstract

Energy Efficient and Intelligent Mosquito Repellent Fuzzy Control System

    Aaqib Inam1, Zhu Li1,*, Salah-ud-din Khokhar2, Zubia Zafar3, Muhammad Imran4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.1, pp. 699-715, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.039707 - 31 October 2023

Abstract Mosquitoes are of great concern for occasionally carrying noxious diseases (dengue, malaria, zika, and yellow fever). To control mosquitoes, it is very crucial to effectively monitor their behavioral trends and presence. Traditional mosquito repellent works by heating small pads soaked in repellant, which then diffuses a protected area around you, a great alternative to spraying yourself with insecticide. But they have limitations, including the range, turning them on manually, and then waiting for the protection to kick in when the mosquitoes may find you. This research aims to design a fuzzy-based controller to solve the… More >
